The Rainbow Children is a fantastic album. Musically it's superb, and i got used to the throaty, monotonous ramblings pretty quickly. But WF is truly poor. From the giggle at the end you can tell prince is having a laugh, but it ain't funny. It's just painful; the only thing i've ever heard of his, released or (officially) unreleased, which i've truly hated and been embarrased to play in front of people. The guy's been funny on record plenty times lyrically before, but this just falls flat on its face IMHO.

It's true that this isn't a stellar Prince track. But if you can't take a simple little joke in that Prince was writing something equivalent to a Dr. Seuss nursery rhyme- you really need to lighten up. No, it's not that funny- but it's still a joke.

Oh, I think it's cute, actually. I mean, he proved that it's impossible to write a serious song about veganism (Animal Kingdom ), so he's going for humor. Me likey.

I WILL give him credit for stretching his writing skizzles - that broadway showtunes delivery is DEFINITELY outside of the usual P realm.

Then again, so is farting into the microphone while squishing his fingers in mayonnaise. I wonder if THAT is next.
