Thank you Prince for being the cool dude you are and for not doing something stupid like screwing little boys or slicing your face up in a plastic surgery obsessional frenzy.

Funny you should say that because I didn't see any cameras there. I don't even think they had video screens operating. How was the filming? Lots of different angles or did it seem like it was shot from a single camera, in the distance? Life it ain't real funky unless you got that orgPop. | |

Erm, he wasn't performing for TV. Just a regular concert that happened to be filmed. Life it ain't real funky unless you got that orgPop. | |

--- Please put your crack pipe away. He did one of his most popular songs for a worldwide audience. Seems like common sense to me. | |

Hello...BABY IM A STAR and SSHHH, they have always been OVERBLOWN VEGASy type numbers . so have all of his performances as of late. s'whatchoo sayin? --- Maybe you have seen different shows than the ones that have been reported on this site. It appears that the Australian shows were well attended and appreciated by their audiences. This guy did a bare bones One Night Alone tour that featured little played tunes. Now he is going back and doing his more popular tunes. Seems like he is trying to please everyone which is what performers are supposed to do. | |

First of all the perfomance was great. A lot of people on this site speak from the stand point of some one who has seen every show, and bootleg or what have you , but to the average teenage that was watching that show. I am sure that they were blown away by that show. I know some of you guys don't think that is was that great, but remember we are hardcore. We have seen damn near every show either in person or on tape. | |

i taped it ... and watched it ...
i have to say - as i put the videotape in ... i thought : shesh another prince tape that i will never watch again ... but - then i saw it ... "baby I'm a star" comments : somewhat of a disappointment ... i felt he looked borish ... when the lyrics say "tell me if u like what u see" ... he was pointing at his ears (like he shoulda been saying "like what u hear !!!???) ... his dancing looked boring also ... Shhh ... comments : Prince is back ... thats really the headline here- to me ... he was singing some "somewhat dirty" lyrics ... and gettin down ... playin his guitar like it needs to be played ... and JB - what else can u say ... awesome song performance ... great selection for a "finish " (if it was only 2 songs ...) just my opinion...and ... of course ... i thought ... damn ... i might have to watch that video again ... | |

It was a great performance especially Shh!
As for the band, they are great and close to the best he's had, but the best band Prince had was the SOTT and Lovesexy band by far. __________________________________________________

Lots of different angles or did it seem like it was shot from a single camera, in the distance? It looked like a multi camera shoot. Probably from platforms in the crowd or off to the side of the action. There was coverage of the entire band and plenty of closeups. It was well done, in perfect clarity. I don't see what all the hullaballo is about!! He did all of 2 song and the camera shot were all over the place!! I mea Baby I'm a Star and Sshh was nice but i would have prefered just a straight shot than that all over the place crap!! I wanted to have a good look at him and the band!! I did not need the camera shots trying to make it more exciting for me!!
But anytime I can see him perform it's a treat!! I much prefer him to sing Shh than Tevin!! LOL | |

How cool would it be if the Vegas DVD was shot with the same care and quality that Hong Kong Rocks was! For all those who thought the DVD wasn't that bad, watch Hong Kong Rocks and see what a professionally filmed concert looks like! Positivity Y'all! Wizong It looked good because it was shot with professional broadcast cameras, not 3CCD camcorders. As for the directing it was a little lame during Baby I'm A Star. The shots were jarring and distracting. I know the effect the director was going for but it was overkill. It seems for Shhh! the director calmed down and it made the performance more enjoyable. -Tine | |

TedW said: He needs to drop "Baby, I'm a Star" from the set altogether, period, and forever. Especially since he tends to do less dancing these days anyway. More than any tune off Purple Rain that one is a relic of 1984 and should stay there.
I enjoyed the performance, esp since he didn't sing Baby I'm A Star in that high pitched voice(the song was never falsetto, but compared to 1985 PR concert he sounded much better). | |

I havnt seen this film yet but i'm amazed that some people doubt how great these shows were and how great that band is.
All of those that witnesssed The Aussie shows know the truth. And another thing, there is NO WAY that the Revelution was a better or more skilled live band. They may have been more influential on his great music but they are clearly NOT a better live band. When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading. | |

I've seen countless live shows taped during the Purple Rain and Parade tours and I just didn't care for the Revolution in either setting. Now the SOTT/Lovesexy bands were supertight. I rank the SOTT/Lovesexy crew at number one in a live setting, followed by the current NPG and at third the mid-nineties NPG. I will give the Revolution studio props but live they just don't do it for me. | |

Ok can u explain this further. What exactly was lame about it? If u think his performance was lame what exactly do u consider a good performance by Prince or anyone else? Maybe you're just one of the nitwits who like to yank peoples chains because u have a sadistic nature. Truly if u felt it was "lame" not average or ok but "lame". Then u are truly wasting your time with the whole Prince thing don't u think? | |

I haven't seen it mentioned here, but Baby I'm a Star was almost part of a medley. That is, the show was started with four short versions of Purple Rain tracks started in quick succession. At the time it came across as a quick way to clear out some essential hits, getting the crowd into the mood and keeping the casual fan happy, before exploring some of the other less known songs further. So his performance of Baby I'm a Star shouldn't be taken as a full-on effort by the man. Life it ain't real funky unless you got that orgPop. | |
