Dream Factory question: how come the 2 versions of this album that circulate have different track sequence from what's listed in uptown/DMSR? does "the cross " come between "movie star" and "all my dreams" or before "last heart"?
also, are the circulating boots just compiled from a mixture of official (from SOTT and CB) and non-official tracks, or do u think these are really recordings of the unissued dream factory album? please, can't someone take this thread seriously? i really want to know: is the dream factory boot just a bunch of songs put together from different sources or is it from the actual master?

Yes, it is interesting that the track sequence for the
Dream Factory bootlegs do differ slightly from the tracklist listed by Uptown. The tracklist in uptown is definitely genuine, as it is taken from Susan Rogers own tracklisting that was made when the album was compiled. It is possible that the bootleg tracklisting is also a genuine sequence for the album too, as many albums have gone through lots of minor track variations and sequences on top of the main configurations listed in Uptown. However, I don't believe that the boots of Dream Factory are direct copies of any single 'master' of the album, as the sound quality and tone varies dramatically from track to track. Despite the bootleggers attempts to even out the sound quality across all the songs, it's quite clear to me that they have been compiled from multiple sources, and this of course calls into question the validity of the running order. It's also worth remembering that Dream Factory was never truly finished, and had the Revolution not split up, it would most likely have undergone a few more minor (or even major) changes before it's release. All we have is the last configuration of the album made before it was shelved, which isn't necessarily the same thing as the final version. | |
