Vanity 6 did a version of Sex Shooter? The original Vanity 6 version of this song has the same basic lyrics that appears on Apollonia 6, but it includes Prince singing "Come on, kiss the gun, guaranteed 4 fun," as well as some miscellaneous background vocals. The song ends with a scream from Prince, as if he were an unwilling victim of Vanity's firearm. The instrumentation is unpolished and lacks the punch and clean sound of the final Apollonia 6 version. It was intended for Vanity 6's second album. ...taken from www.dtt-lyrics.com.

Someone gave me one once. But i turned it in.
Prince's music represents spirituals ideals and love to some. If we choose to listen to his bootlegged music, those spiritual ideals mean nothing. Prince's gift should be heard when and how he chooses it to be heard. :

I have plenty of live bootlegs, i feel no shame. If Prince wants to replace my bootlegs with legit versions i'll be first in line. there are tons of live shows that Prince probably doesn't have the original tapes of himself, and if he has, he's not got any intention of releasing anyway. so i can't see how he's losing out in that respect.
I do feel a little guilt about having outtakes though. Having said that, it's unlikely i'd have still been around to buy TRC and NEWS, I don't think i'd still be a fan without them. It's simple really, he should make all this stuff available and i'll trash my bootlegs.

All I have are:
CD Paisley Libido (heavily scratched from lots of usage) Prince and the New Power Genelation (always makes me laugh as I don't like NPG anyway) live on Arsenio Hall. Black Album +8 12 Inch 4 CD set (before some crackhead in Plaquemine, Louisiana stole the shit out of my car (I hope you die)) LP He's Got the Look (after concert party jam) Live in the LA Sports Arena Royal Jewels (3 Record Set) Extra Lovable Cross the Line Under the London Moon (Live from Wembley Arena/London, 12.Aug.86) The Back Album (B-Sides) You Belong to Prince (Live in Houston 81) I wish those records were on CD... They are just sitting at my parent's house in a crate. I've reversed the polarity of the neutron flow... Now to find a way to exterminate Melody Cool and Rosie Gaines...

It's very weird spending your time on a fan-site and not owning any bootlegs ... the legal stuff he's putting out satisfies you? It's even weirder to be on a fan-site and not owning all the legal-albums ... So I'm discussing with people who don't no shit about Prince's music??? What are we doing here??? It even surprises me that most orgers don't know shit about the pop-classics ... and really zero bout the funk-classis ... I'm glad that there are some orgers who do know!! [This message was edited Wed Jan 21 2:37:57 PST 2004 by ThataintFunky] I am sure you know only half of what you think you know... And that surely is very little... Great avatar - that ABC album was the one true classic on the 80s new wave and doesnt get enough credit. Every cut is great. And I gave over 300 boots. I actively trade with anyone that has something good and I make copies for any and all deserving fellow NPGMC fans. I buy them at record shows, auctions, over the net, and I have even jacked a few. I am addicted to Prince boots and at the rate that I collect, I will need a seperate room in my house to store them all. That said, I whole heartedly support Prince's legal actions against bootleggers and those the feed off the industry (ie. bootleg sites that offer grpahics, reviews, and other info). When you buy ALL official material and join NPGMC every year without bitching about what you don't get from the club, you can buy boots with a clear conscious because Prince is not losing any money on you. I am one such dedicated fan from the the very first album since I am old enough to have been alive when it was released. [This message was edited Tue Feb 3 14:10:11 PST 2004 by undulatingacrobat]

i don't own any boots either, nor do i have the money or the time to track them down. do i have the interest to? sadly, yes. i've been very much opposed to them all these years because i've always been perfectly happy with the official releases and to those who were making money of the sales.
but i have to admit that the more you folks all talk about them, the live shows, the after shows, the videos you all have.. frankly, i'm jealous. i want to see them too. i have missed out on so many tours and concerts because of where i live... yup, i'm jealous. Prince, release something soon. i'm getting antsy. "No, I'm not that mysterious. I'm a pretty open book. People who know my music, I would say know me." - Prince, Today Show 3/15/04

[This message was edited Wed Jan 21 2:37:57 PST 2004 by ThataintFunky] How is it weird to be on a fan-site and not own any bootlegs, or to be on a fan site and not own all of Prince's "legal" albums? Some people don't have any bootlegs because it bothers them that they're, you know, illegal. Some people just aren't interested in them. I actually own some bootlegs, but I no longer have any interest in them and will not be seeking to get any more, mainly because I don't like wasting my money on things like shit recordings, or clubs that give you nothing. I don't own all of Prince's released work (I don't own any of the best-of albums, ONA or any of the other stuff released only to club members). So just because I have no interest in bootlegs and don't own all the "legal-albums" I don't know shit about Prince's music? Yeah, right, whatever. AsylumUtopia...so i understand your feelings regarding the 'your not a REAL fan if you don't own...' implication. So you are right, technically... obviously you don't have to own any bootlegs to be a fan. But what i think ThatAintFunky was trying to point out was this... If 'fan A' has listened only to some of Prince's official releases... and 'fan B' has listened to Princes official releases AND the zillions of boots out there... which one of these two fans (and again I'm agreeing that BOTH of them are valid fans)...but which one of these do you think will have a more complete idea of Princes abilities capability's musically speaking and be able to speak more comprehensivley on them as a whole? Again...not saying that 'fan A''s opinion on what he/she has heard is any less valid than what 'fan b's opinion would be on those same records...but it's a matter of perspective really. The fact is that 'Fan B' has experienced a bigger picture and has more data to compose a more comprehensive opinion on the whole. Not a 'better' or 'more valid' opinion on the same records, but rather a more comprehensive opinion on the artist as a whole. You see what i mean? for instance if a 'person A' has only heard a selection of Miles Davis records from very early in his carreer that 'person A' would absolutely have valid opinions of those records without a doubt...and could speak to that early perspective with knowledge of that experience. But they would be confined to that. Whereas if another person, 'person B', has heard the early Miles stuff AS WELL as the LATER genre breaking Miles stuff, this second person would indeed have a larger pool of data to experience and could probably speak on the artist as a whole with a more complete perspective. I think thats what AintThatFunky was trying to say. (AintThatFunky, if thats not what you were trying to say, my appologies) But it is waht I'm trying to say... so...at the risk of being sued...I'll fess up...i am a 'fan b'...i have pretty much every official release some duplicates and in multiple formats... and I also have a respectable collection of unofficial stuff too...a few purchased used, some were traded for and others were even just given to me by fellow music fans.(thanks..you know who you are!). The fact is in the past 10 years or so if i had NOT had access to any of the unofficial stuff i probably would not be on this site talking about Prince. Why? Because, with some exceptions, much of the offical releases in the past 10 years have not inspired me NEARLY as much as the unofficial stuff that I've come across. (Again there are exceptions to this of course...I really thought Rainbow Children was his best record in a long long time)...but on the whole...if i had only heard the official stuff in the last decade there just wouldn't be as much good stuff to talk about. and for me its not about some 'elitist snobbish club' or anything like that at all...like i said, as a 'Fan B' I can't call myself a 'better' fan than the 'fan A' who has 7 official prince records in their collection. A 'better' fan? heck no. I don't even know what a 'better fan' means. As far as I am concerned if 'fan A'is satisfied with the quality of the official releases they have collected...cool. If 'fan A' doesn't care to listen to the unofficial stuff to hear what they might be missing...thats their choice... and thats perfectly cool too. If they are happy and inspired with the official output...more power to them. But being a 'fan B' myself, I DO know what i would be missing had i not been fortunate enough to come across some of the unofficial stuff. I would have missed a LOT. Subjective opinon of course, but for me, pound for pound the unoffical stuff simply blows the official stuff away. Its as simple and to the point as that. And I'm one of the folks who would GLADLY pay Prince for OFFICIAL releases of the UNOFFICIAL stuff that i have in my collection. I'd replace it all with official releases if he made it available. But for whatever reason he hasn't...and my guess is he probably wont. I'm impressed that some folks can wait on the hope that these currently unofficial gems will one day be officially released...more power to you and i really do hope that happens (let me know when it does, too!)... I'll admit it...I am a junkie...a good music junkie...i live off of it...i love it...i must have it...i can't help myself...he could make a zillion off of us if he'd put some of this stuff out officially...if he fed the musical need...if he released clear versions of this stuff that we love so much...but honestly i just don't think he ever will... maybe he'll prove me wrong one day...i hope he does...I would have like been in the front of the line...but i really doubt it will ever happen... and my need, my love for good inpired music just wont let me wait... Thanx Justhemusic! I agree with your essay! ... you write it in a more subtle way
