Does anyone here NOT own bootlegs?

I honestly don't have any. I don't like the not perfect quality of the sound. I have realized that not owning bootlegs made me appreciate "Crystal Ball" a lot more. I realize I may be missing out (I really wish I had a copy of "Electric Intercourse") but I am just not that into them. Weird?

I have a few that were given to me... but all of you that know me ... know that i dont swap, buy or sell bootlegs.

I want more from Prince daily as he gives me the greatest musical inspiration ive ever known... but 4 that i must respect him enough not to distribute or buy them.

I think im a minority when it comes to this ... and not dissin any 1's actions relating to boots... but its just my gemini way.

Well good luck if you can get more of your fix every 1-2 years. Most serious collectors and FANS, can't wait that long and hunt down and enjoy alot of his live show.

That's what keep alot of people following Prince for the last 25 years.

The studio stuff doesn't compare to the live show.

Prince...wake up and release more live stuff. We as fans and collectors love it!!!

No boots here, unless that interview disc w/booklet bought at Media Play counts. If so, I didn't know. Never paid a dime for a boot. Didn't know so many existed until recent years.
Hope he releases some of this stuff one day.

I don't have any. Although if I came across some, I would get some. I never really looked into getting bootlegs. Where or how do you find them?

I have 2 I bought at record fairs, and 1 I bought at a CD shop in Switzerland. I remember about 8 years ago, seeing 20+ boots all lined up under P for Prince in a local record shop and I was like "where do I start" but without a good boots guide like Guide2Prince I didn't know, and I didn't buy anything.

I don't have any, except the ones I paid for and the ones that were given to me - oh, and then there were some that I traded. But other than that, I don't have any bootlegs at all, no sir.

I got my own little vault.. however its been about a year or so since i've played any. I dont really care anymore about them to be honest.. My interest is starting to fade.. although Im sure I would highly gain interest if any were in fact released...

It's not weird to not own any bootlegs ...

It's very weird spending your time on a fan-site and not owning any bootlegs ... the legal stuff he's putting out satisfies you?

It's even weirder to be on a fan-site and not owning all the legal-albums ...

So I'm discussing with people who don't no shit about Prince's music???
What are we doing here???

It even surprises me that most orgers don't know shit about the pop-classics ... and really zero bout the funk-classis ...

I'm glad that there are some orgers who do know!!

Me too. It's not that I don't want them, but they just seem inaccessible, unless you've got the right connections I guess.

Why is everybody here such a hypocrite? If U R a fan you have bootlegs, one way or the other. I do have bootlegs and I enjoy them very much. The bootlegs I have R mostly from concerts I have been and everytime I hear them I enjoy/remember the concert again. Ofcourse U can only really enjoy them if the soundquality is at least VG+.

NOT true. I know several Prince fans who don't have any bootlegs. Are they not real fans because they don't have any bootlegs?

GOOD QUESTION, AsylumUtopia! Bootlegs are pretty much solely distributed online nowadays...some people (i do not fit in this catagory) do not have the time to go online and hunt down bootlegs. I hate all this elitist, "true fan" stuff. Besides, bootlegging doesn't profit the artist, so I don't see how buying them certifies one as a "true fan"...?!

How is it weird to be on a fan-site and not own any bootlegs, or to be on a fan site and not own all of Prince's "legal" albums?
Some people don't have any bootlegs because it bothers them that they're, you know, illegal. Some people just aren't interested in them. I actually own some bootlegs, but I no longer have any interest in them and will not be seeking to get any more, mainly because I don't like wasting my money on things like shit recordings, or clubs that give you nothing.
I don't own all of Prince's released work (I don't own any of the best-of albums, ONA or any of the other stuff released only to club members).

So just because I have no interest in bootlegs and don't own all the "legal-albums" I don't know shit about Prince's music? Yeah, right, whatever.

Yes, me too. It makes my blood boil, especially when I'm accused of not being a fan simply because I haven't collected every known Prince bootleg. There's a place (we all know where) for all these "true" fans with this attitude, their sentiments might be better received there.

nod It's not a matter of who loves Prince the most or even how much one knows about his music..it's about how much money one has and how much they're willing to fork out for Prince. Also, I'd rather be a more discerning fan than a completist...Prince is so prolific, one would have to sell their house to own ALL his sh*t.

If U own any bootlegs it does not make U a bigger fan or whatever. That's a stupid discussion.
I only ment to say that I couldn't understand that U don't own any bootleg. That's all. If U don't know the how and where or if U are principally against bootlegs, that's U're own choice and ofcourse U can only respect that.
