the reason the p section is empty is because nobody is buying it so the store isn't stocking it. as for the touring bit...i've seen david bowie 4 times in the past year and a half and three of those shows were as good (if not better) than any recent p tour. the hits are tired and uninspired. just my opinion though. and the club? i'm glad you're enjoying it. its not for me...too much of an ego boosting palace rather than a music club. plus, where is the music in that club? but, a lot of people like it and i'm glad for you. you got your money's worth. one thing i will agree on is the output of music. prince always has released a lot more material than his peers and, even if i don't like the specific release, it can't be denied that he works hard!

No, I don't think we are being greedy. Prince SAID he would release more than one album a year. It'd be fine if he didn't have the music to release, but in his interview with Kurt Loder, he said he has 1,000 songs ready to release. Well, then why not release it?? Your question should be IS PRINCE GREEDY?? Whats he holding on to all that music for? Kevin Smith said "In case the world goes up and we all need entertainment?" I mean, fine CDs are too expensive..pfft...then put up downloads. I don't care too much about "wrachastows" or "charts", I just want the music. I think everyone out here feels the same way. I ain't waiting on Prince though, I've sought out other kinds of music that are WAY better than Prince's output this year. I think the longer he makes us wait, the more fans he'll lose. But if thats how he's gotta learn. the hard way...finacially...fine. "The voter is less important than the man who provides money to the candidate," - Former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens

REMINDER: We've all been listening to Prince bitch, piss, moan, whine, protest and endlessly complain that he needed to be free of a mother label fronting his production bills in order to release music like he wanted for YEARS...
Secondly.. the first thing the free man did was rocket launch 8 disks of vintage funk in 97-98 with Crystal Ball & Emancipation... so call us greedy but this is quite a dry spell when it compared to the flood and purple rainstorm that ended with the release of the Rainbow Children. So call it greed, thirst, hunger, expectations.. whatever. The natives are getting restless.

If htere was no internet , 99% of us would not have this "release more please! now! do it!" attitude. Most of his fans that are not on the net 24-7 like those of us here, at the club, and on amp, dont even think about these things. They already think he releases a lot etc. So I think he does release a lot, and just because we have the knowledge of the possibility, we (well.. some) bitch about it.
So to those in a tiff..go away for a few...live in the Reverse-Matrix (the real wolrd )and u wont have to have your panties all ridin in the crack a your ass feenin and complainin' about the amount of released material etc. and holdin on to some quote he said 5 years ago or so about the strategy to release more and more music is ...well...dumb. "Climb in my fur."

Youre calling his fans greedy, when lawsuit-happy Prince will send his almighty lawyers after you if you so much as post a 200px x 200px 72dpi resemblance of him on an obscure web site? Get real...
Prince is the one who played a helpless victim to WB, who wanted to release so much more but was held back by a big mean record label. Prince is the one who whipped a music club promising 4 albums in one year. Prince is the one who touts a retail section to be exploding with new merchandise. Fans didn't whip up their expectations out of the blue. [This message was edited Sun Jan 18 22:56:38 PST 2004 by Tom]

So what imaginary 7 CD set is Prince going to hint at this year?

I totally agree that Prince's output has slowed. Think about all the albums he used to write for others (the Time, Sheila E., Jill Jones, The Family, Madness etc). And most of them were much better, in my opinion, than the stuff he is releasing these days. He loves to tell anyone who will listen how prolific he is but where is the music to back up his words? Collecting dust in the vault! C'mon, none of us expect him to release everything he ever wrote but the only way he will ever make a complete break from his past is to release all of his previously bootlegged material. Then we will have nothing left to buy from his past and we will have to focus on the present. I really don't know what is going on in his head. Remember on Oprah when he said there were two people in his body? Well, I think at least one of them is crazy! It would be sooo easy for him to satisfy us, at least partially. Sure, the die hard fan is always going to want more but when you consider what is available he has given us practically nothing! Plus it's not like he has nothing to gain. Can you imagine how much money he would make from officially released bootleg material. I guess a world where Prince makes a lot of money and his fans get an orgy of previously unreleased music doesn't appeal to Prince.

To paisleypark4
Yes he did release a some material last year but the quality was sorely lacking. N.E.W.S. was a hastily recorded rehearsal in my opinion. I don't consider Xpectation to have been released mainly cuz I can't get a copy. Could you help me out. And One Nite Alone was great but wasn't that released in 2002? Oh and I would buy bootlegs if I could but I live in a small town. I've never seen a Prince bootleg. Can you help me out here too?

cammille I agree with you! I wouldn't use the word greedy though, xpectations sounds better!
2001 - prince: the rainbow children 2002 - prince: one nite alone... 2002 - prince: one nite alone... live! 2003 - prince: xpectations 2003 - prince: live in las vegas 2003 - prince: n.e.w.s in addition in 2002 he toured extensively in the us and in europe + there was the excellent xenophobia festival at paisley park. personally I think the quality + the amount of the output is quite impressive! so lets all relax and wait what 04 will bring! peace and b wild
