I like it..especially that G Funk breakdown--I dislike Larry shoutin "do u love us!" on it though--- "Climb in my fur."

It wasnt terrible, I enjoyed it at the moment it was released.. I dont see myself breaking it out often though.. and I also think that "do u love" crap ruined the song.. just simply messed everythannng up

oops..I meant P-Funk break down, not G Funk..lawd "Climb in my fur."

Hate it.
His worst cover. I cringe just thinking of it. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

Ugh, what was the man thinking...I can deal with when he covers stuff like Stylistics, but his choices of "contemporary" songs to cover always tend to leave me more than a little cold.

It's OK til Larry shows up.

When I saw the tracklisting I was hoping he would do more of a straight cover like he did with “One Of Us”. I was looking forward to Prince doing the opening slidey guitar bits. When I heard it I was disappointed, I nearly always skip this track. Sometimes I force myself to give it another listen but it just feels soulless. Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.

It's shit.
Compare this to innovative stuff he was doing between 82-88. It's llike he's on funk cruise control. ----------
AND I GOTTA ALOTTA BUTTA 2 GO!

What was he thinking??? You are not my "friend" because you threaten my security.

Naff.
I've seen some people describe it as Disco. I think it's unnecessary, sounds tinny and just "blurg" (that Emancipation - Rave sound is just nasty). Then it breaks down into some Larry G and Baby Brother love-in. Yuck. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm a sucker for a major chord

I don't hate it,but it's not really one of my favorites. For the most part,Prince's remakes are mediocre at best.I didn't really care for the four remakes on 'Emancipation' either. There are only a few artists who can do a remake and make it sound better than (or as good as) the original.

Beautiful Strange would've been a better choice.

Funny you should say that I managed to get hold of an alternate version of Rave where Beautiful Strange did replace Everyday Is A Winding Road Just somewhere in the middle,

Check out this link about cover versions. Maybe Prince had the right approach on this track after all...

and what the hell is that "do you love us? do you love god?" crap towards the end?!? sheryl's original is much much better Power tends to corrupt; absolute power corrupts absolutely. - Lord Acton

Sheryl's is better, but this version is an interesting arraingement.
I think the chorus is mixed in at too high a volume, like I'm being yelled at. But the break down is nice, and even Larry G's party chants work okay. All in all, it's the little cover that tried too hard. Thankfuly, "Sun, Moon, Stars" is on that CD -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Still it's nice to know, when our bodies wear out, we can get another -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
