was Prince's best band in my opinion. i don't even think the NPG of any era could bend and shape music like these guys could.
The Revolution were great as well but they were quite rudimentary.
Sheila E, Boni, Levi, Miko, Dr Fink, Eric Leeds, et al. were the bomb.

i was looking for the pic from the Sign o The Times tour with prince at the front with his mouth open like he was scared or sumfin.

I agree,the Lovesexy band is the best,most exciting band that Prince has ever had.They were extremely versatile,allowing Prince to really stretch out during that period.He was able to get into hardcore funk,blues,jazz...just go back and listen to the live bootlegs from 1987-88.And the chemistry that Prince and Cat had onstage was just incredible.When I first saw the SOTT concert film,it just left me speechless.I couldn't WAIT for them to tour the States!

Yeah, that's a friggin' good show. In fact, seeing this show when it was broadcast back in '85 is what made me a fan. Sure, I'd tripped on When Doves Cry and such, but this was the turning point from casual listener to fan.

In its own way, it's as good as the greatest show on earth (Lovesexy) as they are very different things. This is a rock show whereas Lovesexy was... well, a lotta other things.

Did "Cat" do the backing vocals on Eye No? They're awful, almost ruin the song (the "love is the only way" part, you know what I'm talking about.) Just thinking rhythm sections, surely Sonny T. and Michael Bland are hard to beat?
