What is it about rave that you guys don't like

I really love it. It has such a good vibe,

So far so pleased -puts me in the mind of she's always in my hair-easy as hell to play-positive glam slam vibe

TGRES-Neptunes remix is a club banger Should have been included on original, my choice for 1st or 2nd single

Sun, Moon, and Stars- Love the percussions and bass line, lyrics are clever-not a bad freestyle at the break, zSynth is infectious

Wherever u go , Whatever u do- Incredible-intro bass reminds you of forever in my life- words are really uplifting, inspirational, thoughtful without being preachy.

Tangerine- Perfect break up song -

Strange but True- My gramps likes this song-nuff said

I love u but I don't...-Mayte, Mayte, Mayte! we've all been there before

Hot wit u -Should have been the single-Instant club classic-lyrics are a little cheesy, paints a vivid visual picture though-"dancin nude in front of my head lights" Whose game?

Man of war-Inventive again who can't relate to this one-has a strange blues undertone

Silly Game- Doesn't it sound like you've heard this one before- love that break at the bridge

Baby knows- Has an 80's Morris Day sound

Undisputed-should have been replaced with Beautiful Strange

Pretty Man-Maceo blow your horn, listen to this song while your getting dressed on your way to the club

All in all not bad should have done better on the charts.
just my humble opinion!

Everything's fine 'cept:

The Sun The Moon & Stars
Silly Game
Everyday is a Winding Road

And also the fact that he was trying to do another "Sign O The Times". Which is outdated by today's "standards".

JAMIESTARR

It reeks of desperation, although TGRES was a great single
that got overlooked

IT'S SO COMMERCIAL! It's such a desperate, under-funded attempt at making some money! It sucks, admittedly, RIJF is much better - but these two albums are definitely weak.

cool It's not a bad cd. I can still listen to it. I think if it was promoted better it would have done good. That was his desperation attempt to score a hit.

TGRES is absolutely great, but the whole album feels a little like a half hearted attempt at a hit album.

Just a little too thrown together and shoddy for a musical genius.

It was pretty good though, nothing too bad really.

The album is okay, but there's nothing really spectacular on it.A few catchy pop/rock songs, some nice ballads,a few funk numbers...but nothing that could be considered "classic".It's just basically a mediocre, late 90s album.

I think the problem is,Prince has spoiled us.His past albums are so amazing that we won't accept anything less than brilliant lol

From what I can asses over th e years ands when it was current, Rave sounded like ordinary songs that any musician could have made. There was no Prince to it ...if that makes sense.

I love this album. What I find funny is how a lot of fans just are never satisfied. He released Rave, they call it too commercial, he released Rainbow Children, too preachy alot of people called it. He then releases a three disc box set, people bitch about the track listing. He then releases a great cd in NEWS, and people complain about their being no lyrics.. Give it up people, if u dont like the man anymore, thats fine, just listen to someone else...

And for the record, I do think prince is being a moron right now.. but i still dig the mans music..

hodge-podge of disjointed singles, most of which were forgettable.

It gets more play than Diamonds And Pearls in the Squirrelgrease household.

The Rave title track has on occassion, made me choke on my own vomit, though.

Agreed! I think the reception would definitely have been better had Prince played up some of the featured artists on this one. I think the album is great and I definitely agree with you Popgodazippa, there are really a lot of strong tracks on here, but it seems like most people would prefer a rehash of SOTT

It's not horrible, but it just lacks any sense of direction and the production on some of the songs are terrible... not innovative or even enjoyable at all.

Hot Wit U sounds like plastic shite, the opening beat to Everyday is a disgrace, and even the rock songs (inho the better songs on the album) like So Far So Pleased, Tangerine, Baby Knows sound like they were recorded on second-hand material.

SUCH a shame, cuz it could have been a great record. I like the title track, Undisputed could have been much better than it already is, TGRES is plain boring, Hot Wit U sucks, but then again I like The Sun, The Moon, I Love U..., Silly Game and Prettyman.

SO, that's about it on my part.

It's just a hotch-potch. There's that stupid advert towards the end, having Prettyman as a hidden song made no sense and there's waaay too many bog-standard ballads on it, especially during the second half of the CD (TGRES and Wherever U Go... are exceptions).

Some people say that Prince was trying too hard to be commercial. The problem is, there's hardly anything on here that sounds anything like commercial - it's mainly just bland. I just think it was a particularly uninspiring era for him, musically and the album reflects this.

Now, Rave In2 is a different story. It's still not one of Prince's best, but if this version of the CD had been the one on general sale, I think the album would have sold a lot better and it would have been more palatable for the fans.
