Prince u're on the Bad Way!!>Message 2 the Fans Formally Know as Prince' Fans!

Well, if you really want Prince to stand up and listen...hit him where it counts. Don't buy his official shit anymore and stop signing up for the B.S. club membership and let him know that he is affecting his fanship. All we do is support him and follow him and try to get our hands on anything he does. He should think of this as compliments to him and his art. Instead he thinks we are stealing from him and his vault. Not hardly!!! We have supported him thru the years. Again, if it wasn't for bootlegs and live shows, I would have stopped following Prince along time ago with all the wacked out bullshit he has been pulling on the plublic and his fans.

Oh well, maybe people will wake up and stop spending their money to support his so-called cause. Slave my ass! He has always been in charge of his own destiny. He just can't control everyone else too.

As a fan, I am unconditional towards the man. He has given much comfort and joy through his music and lyrics. If he does something I might not like, I would not want to throw a tantrum and demand he behave as I would like him behave. He was a slave all right. Read up on Babylonia. And Little Richard could die broke.

Whilst you are obviously angry, do you really think your call to boycott his records would achieve anything?

Obviously this is in response to the Guide2Prince site being shut down. Although I'm very disappointed that it's being shut down, I can understand why Prince might want it closed.

From my perspective there's nothing bad there. But I could see how Prince could see it differently. Let's put it like this: If you were a person who really wasn't all that knowledgeable about Prince's bootleg material and you went to a site like 'Guide2Prince' and saw all the wonderful live and outtake material available, what might be your new mission in life?

Damn, someone took my statement right off Housequake and put it on here. Atleast give me some recognition please.

Thanks, Oh yeah that was by Automatic7(me) on the 'Quake.

And this was in response to all the idiotic shit His Royal Mess is doing right now. Trying to shut down websites and controlling e-bay items. Just like all the shit from 1999 and Uptown mag agian. I wish someone would drag his ass into a long court battle and win again like Uptown did.

Again, stop buying his shit and his clubs and going to shows for awhile and let him know what you all really think.

Or, just be the sheep that he leads thru his little world...getting smaller by the month.

Not me. I'll just sit back and listen to all my boots and not give a shit about what's going on with him.

I undertsand where prince is coming from.
And I do think it was valid for him to shut down the sites that actually sold the boots, but come on. Guide2Prince.Org only offered informataion, it wasn't selling anything. So I disagree with the shuting down, but I see why he did it.

I'm a fan of the music, not the man; maybe that's why this isn't really phasing me that much.

If you really feel strongly about what he's doing, DON'T join his official club, DON'T scream your heads off at concerts. Prince lives in his own world, a world where he thinks his fans think he can do no wrong. Obviously that's not the case.

Y'all talk a good talk about what an ass he is, but y'all are the same people who contiue to follow him, join the club, go to the concerts, and buy his albums.

If you hate him so much shun him, don't come o a website day in and day out bithcing about hwta he does.

Maybe if you actually acted out your supposed feelings he'd get the drift.

Prince the man doesn't bother me at all. I find him utterly fascinating, so I just accept some of his more seemingly selfish decisions because they're not directly affecting me anyway.

Besides, Prince the artist has helped me and many others to no end with his brilliant music.

So I think some leniance from his fans has been earned.

For me this whole thing really pisses me off.See back in 95 or so I contacted Paisley Park and told them about the boots I had. They contacted me back within the week. This was before the whole internet thing got going.Anyway, they wanted to cat my boots and try to figure out what I had and where they came from,so I shipped all 50 boots to them. When they were done theyd send them back.Well everyone I knew said I was nuts and would never see them again. They sent them back along with a nice package of goodies, even a boot of thier own I didnt have lol.How funny is that.It was on tape not cd.

Now the thing that pisses me TOTALLY off...Is that back then those cds cost me roughly $30 bucks each or more. But now that the true fans can enjoy them cost free. And no one is really getting rich off them thanks to the net.Somehow us fans are now bad. They dont me they didnt mind fans trading them but people selling them for profit they did not like at all.Well seems now its screw us all.Which I think it total bullshit. Its already out there, its not our fault.I say who cares, the music is now back in the hands of the fan mostly. Is no longer the seedy underground of record shops or back rooms.

Another thing that pisses me off since that time. Was the uptown thing. The funny thing is ,Uptown mag was the reason I contacted the park in the first place about them.It had a news thing about boots and someone who was in charge or hunting them down or whatever. So I was really pissed they busted that mags balls for no real reason.

Ive stopped buying things.I didnt join the club this year as I knew for 25 bucks itd be a total joke. After seeing the live dvd Itll be a long while before I buy another thing. The quality of that thing sickens me.

Saw something on the TV tonight that was pretty silly too, typical Prince. Some girl wanted to sing 'Nothing Compares 2 U' on one of these talent show things called 'Stars In Their Eyes' (Where the contestants are supposed to look and sound like the original artist) She applied a year ago to do this show and use that song.

Apparently it took His Royal Sadness an eternity (months!) to decide whether give her permission to sing it, he did eventually agree after the shows producers had told her it was all off due to the Paisley police.

Anyway, she sang Sinead's version and won the show.

I'm telling you, this man is an ass! disbelief

r u sayin' that what love2thenines2003 needs to do is boycott that barber that prolly messed up his/her head?

"Do The Right Thing" jokes aside, love, I understand the frustration, but that's the way Prince is now. you can either "drink the Kool-Aid" or move on. Sounds like you have decided on the latter, and I can respect it because I've been there.

I lost interest in his new stuff after TRC. It took me nearly a year to get the ONA Live set. Ten years ago, I'd have jumped on it like it was the last L to Midway.

Lags in releases, subpar packaging/marketing and the dearth of captivating music has caused me to fall off the Prince wagon, so to speak. There's plenty of old and new music to discover to worry about what P is gonna do next. He's given us more thsn enough already.

I saw that too. The presenter told the contestant that Prince had agreed to her singing the song but under condition. What was the condition , does anybody know? Did he insist on the head shave for the authentic Sinead look?

PrinceOscar

We all know, some through experince and some through observation, that Prince does not subscribe to "free music" as some of his fans view the concept. When Prince said his music would be free, he meant that it would not be controlled by an entity other than himself.

Unfortunatley, he has failed to provide open access to the very thing that draws us (me) to him. There are several acts that offer their fans direct acces to music.

Peral Jam is a great example of a band that gets the music to the people. The Dead, Phish and Widespread Panic are other great acts that promote the trading of thier live material, in addition to selling soundboard copies on thier websites.

I love Prince and always will (Jughead aside), but I wish he would just put on some jeans, come out on stage, rip up the guitar, say a few cuss words and be a real person. the cat is pretentious.

I respect that opinion. However he hasn't given, he has sold.
Plus he promised and envisoned a music club where he would actually release all that music he complained for years he couldn't release due the lack of "freedom" at WB. That was why many fans supported him in his battle with WB. Now he lets them down.

Well, you understand what I mean.

And I agree that Prince's post-WB career has been a huge letdown in terms of quantity and quality of product. His past accomplishments are not excuses for his current disappointments. My point was, as I said before, you can "drink the Kool-Aid" or you can move on. If he makes another great LP, it will be gravy on the grits.

Ummm..excuse me...enjoying the output without having to accpet everything the man does etc is not drinking the kool-aid..fuck that mess or explanation

I will/have been be the first or ready to straight up clown Prince if need be

and if folks enjoy his output it doesnt mean they agreee with al of the outrageousness, the sentiment , or what have u that comes form his camp--believe me I speak for a lot of people who arent blatantly subjective about certain Prince issues. So dont even give me that Kool Aid nonsense.
