It's a pretty cool, little album...dunno if you'll like it on 1st listen though.
Takes a little while to grow on ya, but I personally think it's one of his best of the 90's.

Brace yourself for some wildy contrasting reports.

A lot of the songs on "Come" surfaced in different versions in that weird musical he did and in a TV special. These versions are on lots of bootlegs and some people prefer those versions. In fact, some people think Prince gave weaker versions to WB because he hated WB.

However, I've got the alternative versions and the album, and to be honest I prefer the album version. Maybe it's just a matter of opinion or maybe some people are excited by the "underground mystique" of bootlegs.

In fact, I do enjoy "Come". Like Milty says, it's dark but good.

I like Come. It's not great, but there are a few really good songs on it. It might take you a few listens to appreciate it.

I'm half dreading it arriving... Ever since I became interested in Prince (1999 would you believe) I've always had an album to look forward to... and now, that's it...

I guess I'll have to expand on my bootlegs.

you know, when I first heard it, I wasn't impressed. Come was very laid back and jazzy and the last song is just a weird guitar solo(taken from Annie Christian I think) mixed with Vanily moaning, but after a few listens, it really started growing on me, now I love it. Its definitely not one that you love immediately, much like other Prince albums...this one grows on you. For that reason I think its one of Prince's best albums because you can't easily get into it. I mean, I love LOOSE!! Awesome song, wish he would have included the screams during the guitar solo like the video version. Race is simply awesome with the Girls & Boy weird keyboard sound. Pheremone is great, as well as Space. Solo and Letitgo are kinda forgettable since one is a hit and the other one is just an acapella.

Dark, stark streak of genius. It is awesome. Take "come" to mean "come" as in "come over here".

I've been a Prince fan since the early 80's & Come has always been one of my favorite Prince cds. Played it to death. Mixed in well with The Gold Experience & Exodus. Always thought those 3 together could have been a great triple cd set. Just last night I thru Chaos & Disorder and The Vault & Come in the cd player & hit random. First thing up was Race followed by Dark. Up went the volume & I turned off random & just listened to selected tunes from Come.

I like it alot. Not his best album, but far from his worst. Highlights for me are Pheromone, Loose!, Papa and Dark. I personally would have preferred the electronic version of Come, and i prefer the Universal Love remix of Space but there ya go, Can't have everything i guess! big grin

Come is Prince's best work of the 90's. To me it's better than TGE by a long stretch.

Hey Matt,
It took me a couple of listens to really appreciate the album as a whole, but upon the first listen, the music on the title track is really impressive. "Dark", "Space" "Race" and "Letitgo" are some of my faves from this record too. The rest are pretty cool, with really bugged out lyrics that will have you hitting rewind ("Pheromone"). I was like "did he just say...whoah.."
Congrats on completing your collection. thumbs up!

I love this album. It is some of his best work between 1992 and 1996 (IMO). A lot of people that visit this group rag on it, but it is well worth the money. I love the sexual fantasy aspect of Phermone. It is some freaky stuff!

I wouldn't go that far...TGE is a masterpiece (although most of the songs for Come and TGE were written at the same time.

Yes, Universal Love is a much better version. I have always preferred this to the original. (Come to think of it, I'm gonna listen to this one again... thumbs up! )

Oh come on now, TGE is a work of art.

Come is a little forgettable imo, but it has its stand-out tracks.

Come, Letitgo, Papa (I love the lyrics in this one), and Dark are all very good songs to me.

The rest just seems a little thrown together.

i mean Solo is on it. prolly the best vocal performance of his career.
i had that on the headphones the other day while i was walking thru the London subway and it was so depressing walking thru these people with these glum faces while this amazing song was going thru my head.
it would make for a great video.

Great CD. Its definitely a grower. I hated it when I 1st got it, but a few months later I couldn't stop playing it. Love Space, Race, Papa, Loose, and Letitgo. My only (small)complaint is that it seems unfinished...and Orgasm and Solo are a waste of time imo.

"Come" is one of my favorites and it also seems to be an album that divides people. Some love it and some hate it. I think it is a good blend of rock, R&B and even techno (check out "Loose"). It's very sexy and probably his darkest studio album. I think its one of his last great albums and I'm glad that it was released, even if prehaps Prince wasn't.

Come's definitely worth getting ,espcially if you like Prince getting nasty lyrically and youre a fan of dirty funk,I love the album , though its a shame the weakest song was released as the single i.e Letitgo ( Orgasm's an instrumental I consider ,moaning aside)
