Cream Prince's Most Overrated Popular Song

IMHO, I requested a Prince song to be played on my local college radio station, DJs happily obliged commenting on air that there both huge Prince fans and that PR was on TV the other day. But then they go play Cream. What a dull , plodding song. Maybe if there was a stripper dancing to it in front of me I would enjoy it more@#$%@! ,ah typing in the dark

It's a hell of a lot better than the predictable TMBGITW.

It's not as bad as TMBGITW, but it's definitely bad.

Are you serious? It's got a kickin' beat, cool guitar parts, sweet vocals and melodies...It's just a good pop tune!

Yes, it is a good, fun, catchy pop song...but it does piss me off when I mention Prince and people start singing "Cream". The video clip was just embarrassing, and it isn't NEAR Prince's best work.

Crappy pop-song with great lyrics and 'Cream' as a brilliant suggestive title.

This is it
It's time for u to go to the wire
U will hit
Cuz u got the burnin' desire
It's your time (Time)
U got the horn so why don't u blow it
U are fine (Fine)
U're filthy cute and baby u know it
Love you till you're dead

It's one of those songs the non-fans like.

You know the ones who say "Oh Prince, yeah, I'm a big Prince fan, I like all the hits, Cream, Get Off, Raspberry Beret, Little Red Corvette, errr"

How come you don't like the video? I think it's great.I recall the director saying that she wanted it to look like "a scene from a stylish musical" or something like that.I think she succeeded.

This is definitly a great pop song and not crappy. When it's played in a club people usually start dancing right away. It's a good song for many different people to dance and hum on.

Cream is a quality track - it's got that slinky, groovy feeling that is also present in 'Willing & Able' and '5 Women'.

And the Marc Bolan-style lyrics are kinda fun

what's funny about this song is,many people were confused about it's true meaning.Because of it's title, they assume it was about sex.I remember when I first heard it on the radio, the local DJ says...

"That's Prince, doing the nasty thing again. But you gotta love him though,He's just a nasty man, that's all he is".

lol

I think the whole theatrical thing is very cool, with the hot women and the dancing..but Prince himself looked awful, and that HAIRCUT!!!

For me it's just a remake of "Shake" from GB, based on the same chords but fortunately much more "catchy". Nothing wrong with that song but surely nothing special.

lol The way I interpret it is...

it's about having a positive attitude and achieving your goals. The song could have been titled "Strive",but somehow, that's not as exciting,is it? wink

It was really funny to read all the old articles about D&P!

I'm no native-speaker but can't it be interpreted in two ways? Why TH else call it 'Cream'? confuse

I love this song, how can you not? Just cause it's not his best work? Who cares? It's meant to be a catchy pop song to sing along to, and it serves that purpose brilliantly. Great melody, really fun lyrics, nice guitar work, and some classic Prince badness.

I have a good time listening to TMBGITW too, because like Cream, that song serves its purpose.
