This is funny. This thread is about one of my RULES of music collecting.
Most artists record ONE album that is good, from front to back. Joni Mitchell's Blue (but she has more than ONE) Wendy & Lisa's Eroica and Girl Bros Bruce Springsteen's The River Tori Amos's Little Earthquakes. Most these artist have MORE than one album, but these are just a few of the albums I own, of course. In the case of Prince it is four albums; Dirty Mind Purple Rain Parade Sign "O" The Times All that came after had genius every now and then, but NO other albums had it's finger on the pulse of the moment, it always seemed to lack and drag behind. I wish I could put 1999 on there, for Moonbeam's sake, but that album contains Free, which I detest. If not for that song, it would have made my list. | |

I can only listen to Xenophobia straight through. I can listen to 1999 but i have to fast forward some of the album because I have 3 year old...who is already singing "Maceo blow your horn, Maceo blow your horn, Maceo, Maceo...

i see there is no mention of Grafitti Bridge. now, before all hell rains down on me, i consider GB a soundtrack, which it obviously it is. if it was just a solo Prince album, no Time tracks, no Mavis, no Tevin Campbell...ok i'll excuse the George Clinton/prince duet, We Can Funk, that would be my favourite Prince album. i guess i would say GB. and Come...yes, Orgasm is not a song. GB as an album bites my butt. If you lose everything else on it, you lose RELEASE IT which is the best song on the album. I'd say lose half of the Prince songs (Can't stop-pretty annoying and GB-maybe the worst title track he has ever written!!!) I agree with every one of your choices...and I don't think there are any others that I can honestly say I like every song on...MAYBE Diamonds and Pearls...no, shit, b/c of the title track, I DEFINITELY don't like that song.
