anyway back to the topic. . i think that these days because we have technology artists now become legends in their own time. like david bowie last night in mpls, he utterly ROCKED. onstage and onscreen. and watching him was knowing that he is a piece of living history being made and us all a part of it. i don't think any historian will ever truly feel what that was like, based on a posthumous rendition. so i don't think people are appreciated more after death, it's just that as time goes on their work naturally becomes known to a greater and greater number of people and thereby accumulates a fanbase.
