1981 - Why is Prince dress like a Wild West Preacher? I call it Prince's 'Colonel Sanders' look.
What was the "Controversy" look all about? Did you like it? An odd transition from the trenchcoat "Rude Boy" look of 1980 to the pre-Purple Rain, Edwardian, ruffled look of 1983-1985. Also, why did Prince wear trenchcoats for so long??? Where did he get that look? Soladeo | |

Also, why did Prince wear trenchcoats for so long??? Where did he get that look? Soladeo He got th e trench idea from the idea that those who wore trench coats were flashers, perverts etc..the "perverts trademark" was/is a trenchcoat etc...started with Dirty Mind "Climb in my fur." | |

I think of it as more of an early 80s goth look. Sort of a dracula look with a trenchcoat instead of a cape. | |
