Prince(1982) -VS- Kelis & Andre Ice Cold 3000 (2004)

Kelis & Andre Ice Cold 3000 'Millionaire' -2000 Version of PRINCE's Song 'Something in the water does not compute'...hear the comparisons...its sad!!!

Because kids these days, don't know that this how PRINCE sounded back in 1982!

Urg!
I like Kelis and Andre, but this is a straigh Rip Off of Prince...plus the 'Hey Ya' song!

I'm sure there were James Brown fans saying much the same thing back when they heard 'Kiss' for the first time.

Nothing's orginal.

still.. saying 'millionaire' and 'something in the water' compare, is ridiculous. i just don't hear ANY resemblance.

I haven't actually heard the track in question. Was just a general response.

Anxiety

The electo-funk influence is there, but I wouldn't tag it to a specific song, just the general sound of the time...nuthin wrong with that. When people say a band is influenced by the Beatles it's usually considered a good thing, yet when someone's influenced by Prince they're a copycat. I don't get it.

I think James Brown is getting royalties every time Prettyman or The Work vol.1 gets spun.

good gawd, you need your hearing checked; ESPECIALLY if you think 'hey ya' sounds anything like Prince

BTW, I got some news for you, Prince isn't as original as you think/suggest

Yeah, I first noticed how much "Hey Ya" sounded like Prince when I was listening to Sign o' the Times last week. You know, that part on "It" where Prince sings, "I think about it baby all the time, alright alright alright alright alright alright alright alright..."

I agree with Purple One: apart from one vague resemblance (just like many of Prince funk tunes have some JB flavour, no more, no less)there is absolutely nothing. This thread is pathetic.
