it was 88 for me, Hearing 'Hundelahsiliah!' and the 30 seconds after that (cheezy bass sound, crappy snare and the forced melody). Positivity ended the album as bad as it had started.
That period of music was a new period using samples and loops (J Brown funky drummer and all that) and sounded fresh but raw, nothing as funky compared to Princes previous years though. From 88 upto Get Off his stuff sounded dated to me. I remember clubbing at the time, never heard any of the stuff from this period being played | |
