Most dissapointing gig of my life, 1994 - The Downward Spiral Tour.

I expected rage, fury and madness. Instead I got what looked like some very jet-lagged goths, some of whom were playing synths that weren't plugged in or making any noise.

Still love 'em though and I like the DVD (even if I can't get any of these Easter Eggs to work on the Region 2).

I thought I would have all the versions of Head Like A Hole on the maxi single but no, there's no Opal version on there.

When did NIN remix Killing Joke's "Democracy"? I bought both the CD singles and it's not on there cry

They should do Simon - they do on mine! Keep trying. (I do know that the Manson egg is kinda hard 2 activate).

"I'll tell you a funny story about Prince. I was in this studio and I heard Prince was coming in. There was a time I thought he was awesome, but what a fucking creep! The rules were, you were never to say the word 'Prince', you had to write down that symbol. You were never to look at him, or talk to him unless he approached you first, shit like that. So he shows up in a limo, wearing a fluorescent pink jumpsuit, giant hair, a cane, huge heels and a lollipop."

He imitates Prince in heels trying to jive walk a four foot frame. It's funny.

"And he's wearing the worst women's perfume you've ever smelt. So he's got two giant bodyguards with him and there was nobody there who was gonna fuck with him! It turns out he wanted us to remix a track and make it harder--apparently he had Broken in his car for a long time. So then I see him at the other end of this hundred yard corridor, and there's only me and him walking towards each other. So we're getting closer, closer and...he walks right past me. I couldn't believe it, I don't care who you are, that's bullshit."

-Trent Reznor (NIN), interviewed for Select Magazine, 1994

I think that Prince's notoriously elitist attitude may be his own personal defense system and a way to deal with his fame, but perhaps this time his ego got in the way of what could have been a potentially ground-breaking cooperative project with two amazing musical geniuses.

That's why we love him! wink

Yeah, that's why his entire career he's always been so overly image conscious and hung up on looks and the superficial to the point of obsessiveness.

Musicians who want to "get people to focus on the music" wear t shirts and jeans onstage, and they don't spend gazillions of dollars and hours on elaborate hair, makeup, clothes, etc.

I agree that to Prince the music is **extremely** important, but cmon - he's always been just as concerned (sometimes even more so it seems like) with appearances.

Cheers Nana! You're a proper gent. I missed the "Wardance" compilation. Shame, as Killing Joke have always had some cracking remixes. I love the remix of "Requiem" that The Orb did years ago.

I've finaly got some of the Easter Eggs to work (I got Manson & the 99 advert but that promo for The Day The World Went Away is driving me insane!

If I press 7 at the time stated, the number does appear on the screen (which it normaly won't) but nothing happens. If I press enter it flashes green and I get the 'nothing happens' sign appear.

Still, that's half the fun of Easter Eggs I suppose. Now has anybody worked out how to find the Sub Sub documentary on that Doves DVD? I swear I bloody well tried everything!

Hahah what an asshole he used to be.

I don't care how musically brilliant you are, there's no reason to stop being a normal human being to others.

He could've at least returned the enormous respect everyone showed him in those days.

Oh well, I guess saying a mere "hey" or whatever was too much effort for His Purple Highness. hrmph

I'm so sick of this NORMAL shit, that's why I chose that quote as my signature, and put the first part in CAPS.
Why would you go on a Prince site, and use the word "normal" like its some great thing to be?
Great works of art usually come from weird, eccentric, marches to the beat of his or her own drummer type of people, and thank god for those kinds of people!!!
You think Around The World In A Day,or Parade,or SOTT,or Lovesexy or 1999 or Dirty Mind would have come from a normal person, hell no!
