Prince song of the day: ELECTRIC CHAIR

This song is so hot! I think the way he keeps his vocals so monotone really complements the drum and guitar parts. The best track from one of Prince's most underrated albums. It RAWKS!

BTW, did anyone see, or better yet, does anyone own a copy of the SNL performance of this song from 1989. He played in total darkness with a blue cloud guitar underneath a giant Batman logo. He was wearing a gold top, too.

I think it ws a great cut. It has some real tasty guitar licks in it and the clav is reminiscent of Stevie Wonder. It drifts off a little with a seemingly unnecessary change towards the end, but its still one of the better tracks in my opinion.

One of my all time favourites. Wish I had the SNL performance.

radio,"Partyman"is great but he can do that shit in his sleep, and don't evenget me started on "Arms Of Orion" this
should've been the 2nd single

Pretty good song, but I could live without it.

The song's lyrics don't even really suit Joker anyway.

Why would Joker care about being guilty? He's supposed to have no conscience.

If a man is considered guilty
4 what goes on in his mind
Then give me the electric chair
4 all my future crimes-OH!

U know I'm guilty, yeah, (4 all my future crimes)
Guilty, (4 all my future crimes)
And if ya don't really love me
(Then give me the electric chair) oh!

A great tune, and an even better remix. The CD single with The Future is a must have.

This is an OK track. But did you think it really fit into that scene in the movie 'Batman' with the Wayne Manor party? shrug

prince screws up singing at one point. he says "2 commit the primes of passion" instead of "crimes", then realizing his error, he clucks his tongue. it's cool. the whole perf is stripped and basic, such a drastic turnaround after the lovesexy extravaganza. i think prince's face was completely shaven clean that day, maybe the only time i've ever seen it like that.

It was at precisely this point that Prince started to actually look younger as he grew older. Watch the Batdace video and I dare you to tell me he doesn't look younger than he did in Purple Rain.

Mmmm, clean shaven... nutty

Always loved this song. Like the lyrics 'I saw your friend first - that's who I danced with - all the time I was watching you'. Done that before, going after some friend of a girl because you're too intimidated by the one you'd really like to ask to dance. Quite an astute lyric for a popstar who could have any women in the place.

Another great lyric:
'U whispered something
It took my mind out like a
G flat major with an E in the bass'

Like how Prince uses musical notation to express his emotions.

Also like the way he sings

'Let's take a drive, love
So we can make up our minds, love
2 commit the crimes of passion
That sets us free
Me lovin' U, U lovin' meee

But one thing I've commented on before, I'm sure the drumbeat is the same as Janet Jackson's 'Pleasure Principal' especially where it stops and starts. And that was before the Batman album and produced by Jam and Lewis ex of the Time... but Prince could have wrote it years before... so who's ripping who off?!

I finally hear a verbalization for that thing he does...tongue clucking. He also did this in the '81 performance, and somewhere else I forgot.
