Do Yourself a Favor prt II

Okay y'all know how much I've been diging this song as of late and I finally had the chance 2 hear the Jesse Johnson version and you know what? It does kick as just a little bit better then the Prince demo version, the only thing is it doesn't have the break it down drum prt in the song and it's missing Prince rambling off 2 the girl about the 50 dollar bill (i'll kick your ass) prt. Either way it goes, both tracks are funky, but I like Jesse Johnson voice better 4 the song and it seem 2 fit his style more. Just my opinnon.

I think both are equally good. Jesse's slower groove seems more funky, and I like to dance to it. But it's overproduced. Prince's version is dirtier, and his extended version of the song certainly adds to its appeal, but it feels rushed nonetheless. Both very worthwhile tunes.

Ohmygod, Prince's version of that song is the best thing I've ever heard, PERIOD.

I prefer Prince's version, but the 12" of Jesse's has some great funky guitar at the start.

You're welcome to your opinion, but I just don't understand how ppl like Jesse's version over Prince's. Prince's version has a great bass line, cooler synths, faster tempo, much better vocal delivery(more emotion) since its kinda of "heartbreak-getting-over-you" song, and a much better breakdown with Prince singing/synths. The ending part is fun to laugh at from time to time but it can get annoying. None of these cool things are in Jesse's version and I think for good reason. He didn't want it to sound like a Prince song(yes Pepe Willie wrote it, but Prince redid it...much better may I add) I think Prince's version is MUCH MUCH better than Jesse's and Pepe Willie's.

Whoooaa, there is a 12 inch version? Maybe I should hold judgement off until I hear that version. What set is it on?

I like both versions.I must say that I prefer Prince's version. It just raw and funky!Jesse's is more in line with the pop-ness of it all.
