I like Rave.....so flame me!

I expect to get a lot of "What are you, retarded?" for this but I really like the Rave album. There are a lot of good tunes on there and he really made it a mixed bag of stuff that would hopefully please fans of all his different periods and even casual fans alike. It's got great ballads (I Love You But I DOn't Trust You..., Man-O-War), good rock n roll (So Far, So Pleased), Some funky shit (Baby Knows, Hot Wit U), and some decent all around pop (Wherever U Go, Whatever U Do). In fact, I'd go so far as to say that if he'd released this album after Rainbow Children, most of you haters woulda been creaming your knickers over it! Am I wrong?

Most of the songs are quite good in a "poppy" sense, which was no doubt intended, but the production is pretty ordinary and the album does not gel or work as a whole.

It's much better than NPS though imho but nowhere near TRC.

Back in the day I downloaded "So far, so pleased"...it was dispicable. I kind of commend Prince for experimenting with folk/rock etc..but I don't personally like what I've heard from Rave. Still, if you like it..I don't see the problem.

With The exception of So Far, So Pleased, it sucks.

I've always liked this album.

Strange But True, Silly Game, The Greatest Romance, The Sun, The Moon & Stars... all excellent songs.

Shame it didn't do the business commercially.

If it were produced more coherently, it might have been more enjoyable to listen to as a whole, and it certainly would have done better on the charts (which it was meant to do).

As for the artistic value of the album, I think it surely has some good songs (Tangerine, So Far, So Pleased, I Love U, Strange But True, Prettyman), but it contains some utter shit (like Hot Wit U, Everyday and Wherever...)

What is it with people liking Rave IN2 better? I think Rave IN2 is full of horrific lame ass r&B house beat mixes. To me the original Rave un2 is much more Prince and much better, even though it isn't such a great album.

The live version of Pretty Man is pretty awesome and funny.

I like it.

lol by the time this thread is over, we will have listed every single track on the rave CD, saying "except for ___, the rest sucked." which shows that when u add up all the songs, rave is a pretty great album. why doesn't everyone quit bitching about production, commericialism, radio, singles choice, etc., and just enjoy the music.

I prefer the original Rave album.

I do like the remixed title track, but the mixes of Hot Wit U and Man O War suck!

And besides, the original has Strange But True on it. Why he evicted that on In2 I will never understand.
