It Seems...

doesn't it seem like that we have A LOT of Artisit who have possibly been good composers/musicians who've worked with Prince & may have come around in the Early 80's but y is it none of them have been able 2 stand the test of time...

Well it seems like Prince was pretty abusive to his proteges, or more like honest with them, with all that "you'll never make it without me" sh*t. His proteges add to the minneapolis sound nostalgia..but when funk-rock died what were the Time etc supposed to do? Turn out instrumental jazz-junk like P?

with Prince it seems that he's doing what MOOD he may b in at that time. according 2 Possessed - The Rise & Fall of Prince which is a SoSo Book it speaks about how Prince will record a Album 4 WB & then after he tried 2 Promote it it got TIRED & he would move on 2 somethin' else.

P's bing Prolific is what killed him with The WB. they couldn't get it all out when he wanted it out.

hence u have him leaving & doing his own thing. what surprises me is that we were't getting Album after Album with from P after he left The WB. he started The NPGMC which was an xcellent idea & i'd love 2 shake the hand of the person who brainstormed & came up with that idea (if it was P or not).

but u have people like JillJones who still makes music, Wendy & Lisa, Dez, BrownMark, Bobby Z produces & they're not hitting the AirWaves but they're not doin' like P is doin'. he's "out there" & they're humble Artist. but u'd think they b the shit & they're not... y is that???

Well, prolific artists eventually get recognised, and Prince's name conjures all that nostalgia whereas Wendy and Lisa, Dez D etc are basically unheard of. That will never change. To sell big, you need a gimmick. Prince has his sexuality, his old-skool attire, his movies behind him...etc. That's what his associates lack.

Personally, I don't like the NPG. I know that's blasphemy..but it's just how I feel. I like the cold funk that made Prince a star, not the meandering jazz of the NPG.

I'm not blaming Prince for it...my theory about why Prince turned to shit is simple. '90's music sucks. Prince had to keep up with the times, so he jumped on the hiphop bandwagon..he HAD to do it. In the 90's, music got "safe", boring, mellow. Prince's music turned that way too.

True... but lets say that back when Prince ReLeased: Dirty Mind & he decided 2 leave The WB then or let's say he never got a deal but had local people in Mpls 2 help him get his own thing started do u think he would've went the route he's going 2dy?

that's something 2 really think about!

everything's all relative 2 the path that we're on now & going 2 go in the Future.

the MusicBusiness is all about making $$$ & the Entertainment Field is makes the most $$$ in the U.S. of A.

He released a succession of classic albums, is all. If his associates made records as good as Controversy etc, surely they'd have their share of fame too...

Yes, it's something to think about. He's always tried to keep his integrity intact and I respect that. He makes music that he likes, and that's good.

that's the agenda:

N.E.W.S
The Rainbow Children
Emancipation

i LOVE thoz 3 albums & that's the path. he speaking 2 us thru his Music that he makes 4 himself. i don't think its about the $$$ anymore.

P will never recapture the Nostalgia of the PurpleRain Era again. but at the same time u'd think people who worked with him who may have been just as Inspired would do well.

but they haven't
