Did Prince write The Jets' "Rocket 2 U"?

I've seen it written under the name Bobbi Nunn, but I heard that was a Prince pseudonym. Does anyone know 4 sure?

Nope, he wrote NONE of their songs. He DID once offer them NEON TELEPHONE, but they turned it down. He gave the song later to 3 O Clock, another MPLS band.

That's correct.Bobby Nunn had a hit single in 1982 with "She's Just A Groupie",a song which mentions Prince in the second chorus...

"she'll do anything if Prince would take her home...that's what she says"

After that song,he started producing other artists. His composition "Rocket 2 U" was actually submitted to Earth Wind and Fire in 1987 (for inclusion on thier 'Touch the World' album),but they turned it down. The Jets liked it,and it appeared on their second album.

I didn't know Neon Telephone was offered to the Jets.

The 12" of Crush On You, is just fabulous.

It's such a shame pop music is so bad now.

The Jets were a pretty tight band for a bunch of kids. I saw them open for Morris Day ages ago. I even have a couple of their CD's... don't stone me.

I remember reading an interview in Black Beat magazine, right after the Jet's second album 'Magic' was released. They were explaining why they turned down the Prince song. They apparently didn't like the song, saying it wasn't one of Prince's best efforts.

Well, that's the truth. (IMO at least)

I think "Neon Telephone" is a good song...fun and poppy. The Jets' second album consisted of slick produced,synth-heavy R&B/dance music.Nothing wrong with that, per se,but Prince's song would have provided a little balance.
