Worst Career Move While I was at home over the holidays, I picked up the local Sunday paper (with the Parade insert). The title read, the 'Best and Worst of 2003.' I could not believe the
'Worst Career Move' article. If you can't read it from my picture it reads... Knock Knock. Who's there? Prince. Prince who sang "Little Read Corvette"? Yes - Can we talk? This is what happened to a Minneapolis area couple who answered their front door on a Sunday afternoon to find the singer, a committed Jehovah's Witness. He then tried to convert them. "He stayed for about 25 minutes," said the wife, idenified only as Rochelle. 'Left us a pamphlet. He didn't do anything wrong. He was kind." Prince, 45, then left in a waiting car and didn't appear to stop at any other houses. ---------------------------------

Door-knocking isn't a bad career move. He just knocked on the wrong door.

I was wondering if this would pop up here. I checked the Parade website the week it came out, but they only had select items from the Best/Worst list, and Prince didn't make the cut. http://elmadartista.tumblr.com/ http://twitter.com/madartista

all this shit about p knockin on some cat's door bein his worst career move is crackin me the fuck up. folks are actin as if he been knockin on everybody and they mama's door or somethin, this is busted! they gots to ...
i guess the reason why the media's been buggin about this is because he ain't naughty no mo'--y'think they'd have a clue that him turnin to some religion (coulda been damn near anything, not just jw) wasn't too far off. somewhere in some cushy publishing company or wherever, some cat had the thought, "prince ain't gonna be naughty for long, he needs some jesus! he gonna do a quick turnaround in his ways sooner or later." ...but i guess they needed to erase that thought straightaway, and keep focusing on 'im humpin speakers and wearin ass-out pants.

I would say signing that damn CONtract with WB in the Diamonds & Pearls era...
OR: Not touring the US for the Sign O' The Times tour... He would have three times the respect and recognition if he had... This may have NOT been his decision, though. Peace. G. "He's a musician's musician..."

Oh yeah...
The "name change" was NOT a bad career move. I thought it was brilliant... seriously. Then again, my moon is in Pieces, so I can understand things that don't seem "normal". SUN in Taurus, of course. G. "He's a musician's musician..."

Huh? What does being a Jehovah's Witness & going door to door have anything to do with Prince's CAREER?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Worst career move was alienating his fans with all that suing BS.
The name change I can kinda understand, at least in my own mind. But suing your fans, the ones that made you, still make you. . . That just wasn't right. **************************************************

I have to say, even though I think the JW thing is bullshit (I grew up one so don't freak) I gotta admire him for actually going out himself and knocking on doors. He could just as easily be one of the celebrities that talks the big game and then is nowhere to be found when the chips are down but that he's actually out pounding the pavement...I gotta give him the props for that.
Having said that I'd RATHER he was in the studio but...
