Family includes media blitz in plan to find lost pet

By The Associated Press

(1/05/04 - NORTH PLATTE, NE) — The hunt for the outlaw Jessie James probably wasn't as intense as the hunt for a Nebraska cat named Prince.

It involved police, neighborhood kids and even prayers from a religious TV show. Prince's three months on the lam started when he couldn't figureout how to get back in te house after his family installed aheavier door into the garage.

Radio and newspaper ads ran in steady rotation with the hope that someone would spot Prince and bring him home. Neighborhood kids were hired to "play Sherlock Homes." The cat's owner says kids "were like prospectors looking forgold" trying for a 50 dollar finders fee.

Finally a woman turned up with Prince and his owner said he was so happy to see "the little devil" that he let the finder getaway without paying her. Now he's trying to find her to pay up.
