This'll be an interesting year for me, Prince-wise...

...cuz this year marks the 9th year that i've been followin p and all his worx. mmm-hmm, 9 years since i found my sister's copy of dirty mind and listened to it outta mere boredom, not knowin what i was in for.

9 years might not mean a whole lot to some of ya'll older fans/friends/freex/fams/geex/whoever, but in my case it means an awful lot. i just turned 23 this past december, so i'm a fairly young prince geeklette; but still, ol' boy is one of the few artists that i've kept consistent tabs on over the years and gained more knowledge about (thanx to the org) cuz he's just that interesting, y'know. all the wishy-washiness and snatchie little antics aside, he's still cool.

9 years...good gawd, i'm gettin old. eek

and im here 4 one reason:

I WANNA KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT...

I hitched a ride 20 years ago when along came a little
album called Purple Rain...it's been a blast.
I wouldn't trade my purple experience for the world. no no no!

BTW, aside from the music, the best thing about being a Prince fan is getting to know such great people.
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Ive been a fan since I was 12. Although I knew of Prince at a much younger age. My parents always used to have Sign O' The Times on in the car when we went on holiday to France. I was really into Michael Jackson at the time as were all my friends. It was when I took t upon myself to listen to Sign O' The Times on my own that I got hooked. As the tape played, I remember thinking this was great. I then went out and bought prince and the back catalogue. This all happened when I 1st went to secondary school. Naturally enough, I was the only Prince fan there. I got a bit of ribbing now and again but people saw I was too obsessed to care and just left me to it. Luckily enough in 1993 Prince came to Sheffield and of cause I went along. It just blew me away, it was the 1st time Ive ever been to a concert and Ive been to many now, including Glastonbury, and I still think its the best thing Ive seen. Thats why when peeps on the Org say 'Whats Prince's best tour', I'll have to say in reply along with my own opinion, the Act II tour becuz of the memories.

I did have a dip though. This was during 'The Vault', 'New Power Soul' period. I became an indie kid, with the whole flairs, retro Adidas tops etc look going on! It was the 1st time I didnt instantly go out and buy his latest album like I would do. I totally regret this now as I got rid of my posters which Id dearly love to have back. However he was always around and when I saw him on telly I couldnt help but smile and think, 'yep! He's still my no.1'

It was during my time at University up to today when I got back into him. It was after seeing him perform Baby Knows on 'TFI Friday' and 'Top of the Pops'. I also heard Hot Wit' U and The Greatest Romance Ever Sold on the radio. I thought to myself 'hmm, pretty good'. After doing well in essays my Dad sent me a cheque for a small amount of cash and I went out and bought Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic and I really enjoyed it.

After finishing University I went back to work there during the registration period. During spells when it was quiet I could go on the internet where I discovered the Org. And the rest thay say is history...

Im looking forward to what 2004 has in store as for as Prince is concerned. I hope its a good 1!

15th year. It's the only artist I've been interested in for
this long.

Many other bands and performers came and went but Prince is
the one that's been playing for the longest over here.

Although, Tori Amos has been going strong for little over
10 years now, so she's a definite keeper too.

o,i luv these threads...

i grew up on prince.my dad was too "busy" to really play with me,so he'd put on prince an i was a lil quiet baby from then on...

my theory is i prolly didn't understand what the hell prince was sayin' i guess(i didn't speak english til i was 5 or 6 yrs. old)o well, but that changed when he changed his name an my dad thought he really was mad,so he shelved all the cassettes an lps 4 good.

i guess i've been a fam around 2or 3 yrs.
but i've been a fan since i was an infant (13 yrs)
