I have been chating on npgmusicclub and one of the moderators, PaisleyPark 7, was there.
We have asked him some very important questions, and here you have the answers:

1) Is it true Prince is coming to Europe soon?
Answer: no new tour for the moment
But he has said then: "there will be a new world tour". No dates, of course.


2) What's new about Prince?
Answer: At the end of January, Prince and NPG are going to record again. But he hasn't said what.

3) Has Prince covered "Tender surrender" by Steve Vai?
Answer: (conclusive) Prince has never covered that song. He playd "Vilanova Junction" by Jimi Hendrix (some people had said that, and they were right, as you can see).


I'm sooo sad, , I want to see him again in Europe, I cannot wait anymore...

Somebody ask them about Musicology!

I just wish they would reveal a tiny bit of what is in the works (if they know and if there is something in the works).

If they don't tell us anything about what's going on, we moan.

If they tell us what's going on, but then Prince changes his mind and it doesn't appear, we moan.

It must be hard for the intermediaries deciding whether to release 'news' or not, they are, after all, at the mercy of the whims of their boss.

Prince in the studio recording? Well, that's a fair bet.

No World tour? Well, Prince can put together a few appearences at the drop of a hat, his band is always so well rehearsed, so you never can tell when he might be coming to a town near you...

Why does one have to hang out in that agonising chatroom
to get some details?

Can't they just post some news once in a while? I mean,
if I'm supposed to hang out with most of the goons in
that chatroom I'll end up in a mental ward.

In an interview in Total Guitar magazine a couple of years back Vai described getting a load of bootlegs in Japan (he shamed the owner into giving them to him as they were illegal), and among them was a Prince bootleg with "Tender Surrender" by Steve Vai on it. Being a bootleg it might of course have been inaccurately labelled, so this doesn't really solve anything. He also describes jamming with some of the NPG (Sonny T and Michael Bland I think) whilst Prince watched on CCTV rather than joining in. Doh!
