There are at least two Prince songs in Showgirls...one of which ended up on Crystal Ball.

319 and Ripopgodzippa are in the movie. They AREN'T on the soundtrack, strangely. Supposely, Prince liked Elizabeth Berkley...I have no idea why...she's so tall and has no boobies whatsoever. Oh and her dancing doesn't turn anyone on.

I liked that film, and IMO Elizabeth Berkley is a very beautiful and sexy lady. Especially the scene where Ripopgodazippa is played is very sexy.

i pretty much think he had alot to do with the movie.

but as usual doesn't tell everyone about everything he does.part of his mysterious ways. just watch the movie closely and you'll see more of him it seems in it than you realize.

but then again maybe everyone doesn't know him like that.

still love that move Alot !!!

I love it, it's one of my favourite movies.

It definately slots into the 'so bad it's good category' (something it has in common with most other Prince-connected movies).

There's a rumor that,at an early stage,Prince wanted to create the entire soundtrack for this film. But because of his feud with Warners,he was only able to give them two songs---"319" and "Ripopgodazippa".So,let's have some fun here.Let's assume that Prince was gonna give them a full, complete soundtrack (twelve songs or so). What songs do you think could have made up the soundtrack?

man i love this movie... can anybody say GINA GERSHON?
classic quotes (from imdb.com):

Memorable Quotes from
Showgirls (1995)

Cristal Connors: There's always someone younger and hungrier coming down the stairs after you.
---
Tony Moss: I'm erect. Why aren't you erect?
---
Cristal Connors: You are a whore, darlin'.
Nomi Malone: No I'm not!
---
Al Torres: It must be weird, not having anybody cum on you.
---
Cristal Connors: I like nice tits. I always have, how about you?
Nomi Malone: I like having nice tits.
---
Cristal Connors: You are a *whore*, darlin'.
Nomi Malone: I am not a whore!
---
Tony Moss: You got something wrong with your nipples?
---
Cristal Connors: I've had dog food. Long time ago. Doggie Chow. I used to love Doggie Chow.
---
Nomi Malone: You can't touch me, but I can touch you. I'd really love to touch you.
---
Al Torres: You're a fucking stripper, don't you get it!
Nomi Malone: I'm a dancer!
---
Nomi Malone: Hi, my name is Heather.
Cristal Connors: Hey Nomi. I love your nails. We'd like you to have a private dance with both of us.
Nomi Malone: We don't do that. One at a time. No women.
Cristal Connors: A hundred dollars.
Nomi Malone: Sorry. That's the rules.
Cristal Connors: Two hundred. You just do Zack and I'll watch.
[Nomi shakes her head no.]
Cristal Connors: Five hundred.
---
James Smith: I have a problem with pussy.
---
Nomi Malone: You guys just sit over there and I'll change the music.
---
Tony Moss: Okay ladies, I'm Tony Moss. I produce this show. Some of you have probably heard that I'm a prick - I am a prick. I got one interest here, and that's the show. I don't care whether you live or die. I want to see you dance and I want to see you smile. I can't use you if you can't smile, I can't use you if you can't show, I can't use you if you can't sell.
---
Nomi Malone: It doesn't suck.
---
Henrietta Bazoom: The Farmer in the Dell The Farmer in the Dell I had a cherry, once And now it's gone to hell!
---
James Smith: Life sucks. Shit Happens. I'm a student of t-shirts.
---
Zack Carey: We do what we do in Vegas? We gamble.

you don't like 'basic instinct'? i truly think that's a good movie.
however, 'showgirls' is an awful movie and only good for some nice
tits & ass shots. the leading girl looks hot, but she can not act. have
seen the movie several times though. it's fun to watch everytime.

I think he basically did that anyway with the Carmen Electra album. Its the aural equivalent of Showgirls - trashy; fun; vaccuous and tittilating.

One detail that just came to mind is that (in the movie) Nomi's roommate is kept in hospital room 319. Hmmm...

nod Very good point.I never thought of that!

But if I were to compile a 'Showgirl' soundtrack by Prince (using songs recorded during this period),it would look a little like this...

Prince 'Showgirls" Music From and Inspired by the Movie---

"Showgirls" (let's assume he came up with a title song...lol)
"About That Walk"
"319"
"Ripopgodazzippa"
"Hide The Bone"
"Shy" (let's assume that a Showgirls soundtrack would have replaced 'The Gold Experience',so we are free to use songs from that project)
"P Control"
"Cream"
"Endorphinemachine"
"Wonderful Ass" ( a re-made version from 1994)
"Goodbye" (perfect closing track,to be played during the credits)

I watched this again last time and have only just noticed that when Nomi visits Crystal Connors in hospital, Crystal's room number is 319.

I wonder if this was written into the movie after Prince gave them the song or did Prince see a rough-cut of the film and wrote the song specifically?

I hired Showgirls recently and LOVED it, it was so much better than I'd been told. Sure it's tawdry and exploitative but it's still entertaining and there's plenty of eye candy...Gina Gershon is so yummy and evil.

And it was awesome when Elizabeth Berkley did that striptease to 319 'cuz I wasn't expecting it.

'Cult classic' for sure!
