Australian was end of ONA Tour?

not start of new tour...

Ok I got given the DVD Live at The Aladdin for Christmas and on reflection with the gigs in Australia that I saw there was very little difference apart from the fact we didn't get Eric or Sheila.

So I guess what we saw was the closure of the ONA tour in a way not the start of a new world tour. I have made it back to the UK for other tours but I never made it back over for ONA.

Does this make sense? I don't know if I am explaining myself very well.

Perhaps someone else that saw both or has the full ONA DVD and attended an Aussie show can expand on this for me?
In the distance a light shines and I know it is mine. Someday I will touch it because it calls me. It says cross the line, cross the line. I know everything is not always what it seems, so I pinch myself daily just in case it's a dream

what U seen wasn't ONA. It went Portland first as the last US tour stop. then he played the rest of the world 2 call the Vegas show the final US stop and end of the tour. The Vegas Dvd edited up in that format don't speak 2 the full extent of his ONA tour as a whole.

The Australian leg wasn't part of the ONA tour.
The set list was totally different, different arrangements, different songs.
The Vegas show was the finale for ONA.

If Australia was part of the 'One Nite Alone ...' tour, then it would have been called "One Nite Alone ..." etc.

Instead, a new set list with new arrangements played by a revised band line-up (two added keyboard players) accompanied by a new tour programme and press releases announcing a new world tour ... suggests otherwise.
ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

I understand all that you are saying, just that with each new tour previously there is a new stage set. lighting etc etc and from watching the Aladdin it was almost identical to what we saw in Australia. Yes the set list was different but the Man hadn't been here in a decade so I guess it was modified somewhat to take that into consideration.

Having seen almost every tour since 1986 I know that with each tour they are all "different". Apart from the set list I see very few differences. It had the same vibe, feel etc to it. Hell the suit he wore was even the same, albeit a different colour. And I am well aware that this DVD is pretty shithouse and it is nothing to the full show etc etc but this is the first I have seen of ONA and it immediately took me back to what I saw here.

Maybe I am not making myself clear here.

I think when a new tour is announced it won't be a continuation of what we saw a couple of months ago. It will be all new. Prince rarely leaves anything left unfinished. Coming here I think was closure of an era and 2004 is the start of something new.

I'd suggest then that it's either something inbetween tours (unlike the last tour and the future tour) or the start of the new tour. We won't know till we see what comes next.
I did get the impression that the Hong Kong and Aussie shows were somewhat of a rehearsal, albeit a damn funky one, working in the new band members and such.
Life it ain't real funky unless you got that orgPop.
