Goddammit, Prince has sure produced a lot of incredibly great songs.. I just began the Herculean task of organizing all the Prince songs on my hard drive...including side projects like the Time and songs he's given to other artists. It just struck me hard how Prince has released SO many incredible songs year after year after year. It is just absolutely fu*king unreal.
The stuff he released for himself is great enough, but then you have all the music he wrote and produced for The Time, Sheila E, Vanity 6, Madhouse, Ingrid Chavez, Jill Jones, etc, etc, i could go on almost forever. Sure he's cooled off a bit the last few years, but he was just a dynamo through the 80s and early 90s. He must have been in the studio 24/7 back then! And there are many great unreleased jams in there as well to complement the released stuff. Well, I know I'm not saying anything that is surprising to anyone here, but sometimes I forget what a mind blowing body of work Prince has. Just sorting through all thsoe songs and playing through snippets of them just reminded me of this...just years and years and years of incredible music. I'm reminded of how I became such a Prince loving freak in the first place. And all of this is not even touching on his live/rehearsal stuff and the 3000 files I have in that folder and the hundreds of great shows he's performed. Anyway, I think I am going to enjoy this project of organizing everything if I take my time with it and enjoy the music along the way. Prince rules! . Why must Prince conform to some ignorant idea of music u carry in your head. He is doing what he wants to do at a particular point in his journey. By all means sell all your prince stuff. Let somebody who appreciates it have it. Anyone who thinks NEWS is just some lite jazz noodling really doesn't have an ear for music anyway. | |
