Prince U idiot!

I just cannot believe he didn't appear at Family Jamm! Apparently he was even in LA. So what if he was a "corporate sponsor" that's bullshit!

This was for the children. All he had to do was turn up for a couple of songs at the very end. It really doesn't matter if the stage would have been full of ex girlfriends and people he has fallen out with. He should have been a mature human being and buried the hatchett for just an hour of his precious little life.

I have always loved Prince. I have always reluctantly accepted his egotistic and often completely mad business practices. I have always adored his artistry. BUT...

As a human being Prince - YOU SUCK!

I had such high hopes for 2004. New album, reissues, dvds, tour etc. What an amazing start the Family Jamm would have been.

AND MORE IMPORTANTLY had Prince announced his appearance they would have sold out making more money for the charity.

So I will say it again...

As a human being Prince - YOU SUCK!

Oh and before anyone asks - no I was not there. Yes I would have liked to be there but I live in the UK and that would have been some expense. Instead I have donated to the charity.

Exactly Davideye! I was not expecting him to show for the family jamm either. This is nothing new. His ego is far too huge and I believe he has burned a few bridges with some of the people that did show.

Goodness, you were lucky he was even in LA with bile like that!

My take on it is that Prince was in LA so that he could attend if he so chose. I bet you he mulled it over.
Life it ain't real funky unless you got that orgPop.

that's hardly news. i think his ego is so big because he really is not smart enough. prince is a dumb little ignorant twat, not a genius. so he made a few good songs, so did many others.

why defend him, i don't care. i don't feel emotionally connected with him, i'm better than him haha (*big ego talk*)! he's not as funny as my best mate!

lol

So if you do not care that he did not show up, why get on this sight and spout nonsense (because that what it is).
Everyone who was there,I would venture to say, was there to support a cause. Why was everyone so wanting Prince to be there. Like I stated in other threads, according to Sheila she stated and I quote "We have extended the invitation, but there is no PRESSURE on him to attend." If we really wanna know why he did not show, why doesn't someone who knows Sheila or know anyone in her camp ask her, instead of having these SPECULATIONS about why he did not come.

by the way can anyone tell me who the dude was that was dress in a purple hat with a sliver coat. He was tall.

I usually avoid gatherings of ex-Lovers and ex-Friends, maybe it was too awkward for Prince.

I did not know that all his relationships were all his fault, were u guys there, just because he changed mates that mean they were all his fault, there are 2 sides to a story, yes he maybe a control freak, yes he wants things his way but that is with anyone. As far as him giving to the charity for Sheila, it is on her site, he has donated to hundreds of charities, so if those other charities were to throw a concert, should he attend. The answer is (no) he doesn't its his choice. Once again I think we missed the point Sheila herself said there was no PRESSURE on him.
therefore he DID NOT HAVE TO ATTEND.

Whatever happened to Levi suing Prince? Did that ever get worked out? Between the ex-girlfriends and the subpoenas, I wouldn't wanna show up either, dang.

He is said to have contributed handsomely, which IS important. It was a charity event, not a Paisley Park Celebration.

1.Prince never said he'd attend
2.It sounded like a great show anyway
3.His charity donated we presume a considerable sum to Shiela's cause
4.As long as the people who went were happy , all is good.

Lets move on eh

If it was really just about the children, as you say, and he donated money then what difference does it really make whether he showed up or not? Isn't his charitable donation going to benefit the children?

I seriously doubt whether anyone cared about him mending broken relationships or showing up for the children. Most folks wanted him there for their own selfish reasons. No more, no less.

GOD get over it. so he didn't appear! who freakin cares!
the show was a grand success. wasn't it stated that he contributed monitarily?

isn't THAT what matters? isn't the whole reason of having the event to raise $ to which he contributed?

and really there would have been no music at any jamm if he hadn't written it all. come on!

i can't understand why this is such a surprise to you people.

the problem with so many P fans on this site is that they've put him on this high horse where he really has no place.

so he's the most amazing musician of our time. that doesn't make him the greatest person ever.

there is a difference.

Anyone who has ever read any of my posts or replies to posts knows that I have always been very fair in my judgement of Prince.

I love him - why else would I spend time out of my life to log into this website to catch up on gossip, news etc

I have always accepted that he is idiosyncratic in his ways. I have always known he is egotistical (sometimes extremely). As far as I am concerned he is without doubt a genius (musically) although like most geniuses he is a flawed genius (and in fact a flawed human being - aren't we all)

However, I DO HAVE RIGHT TO *MY* OPINION and that does not make me a bad person or an idiot. This is a *DISCUSSION FORUM* which means people discuss/debate etc.

I believe Prince SHOULD have attended the Family Jamm even if it was just to join them on stage at the end. I believe had he announced he would attend then more tickets would have been sold.

The most precious thing anyone can give to any worthy cause is their TIME. I believe Prince giving money was obviously a great gesture (although speculating how much would be pointless) BUT his attendence would have meant a great deal to all those people on stage and off stage.

HE is the reason the music exists and was the obvious lynchpin for the entire project. HE could have gotten involved and supported his supposed very good friend Sheila E in her good cause.

So in *MY OPINION* Prince is a dick for not attending

And also it is NOT ME BEING SELFISH as I was not even there so can't have selfish reasons for wanting to see him perform (as I said I would have loved to be there but I live in the UK)

totally agree!!

How is Prince a bad person if he donated money for the cause the concert was intended for in the first place?

It was probably the simple fact that due to his whacked out religious beliefs, he didn't want to perform on stage with two outwardly lesbian former associates.
