Anxiety

It's pretty damn bleak over there, unless they've mellowed out over the past year. Hey, anything's possible...

I suspect your fate was sealed when you decided to announce the release of your new Cd in a.m.p. with:

For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

You got the 'U Tell Us' Forums over and NPGMC, and thus you have A.M.P.

AMP is great, lots of very old-timers, chatting about shit and bitching.

Plus the regular posters on AMP keep ABMP alive, which is great.

I think there's a fair crossover of orgers and ampers. I also suspect there is a fair bit of amp lurking where people go for the news but don't want to get caught up in the bitterness and acerbic threads / flamewars.

As for 'prince.org rejects', I'm not exactly sure what that means. A.m.p. used to be much more lively than today (whereas it used to be the opposite, nowadays most news gets posted on the org before it is posted in amp). The relaunch of the org saw a number move from amp to the org, or at least former ampers re-emerged here. It hasn't been noticeable to me that people who have been banned from the org turn to a.m.p. In my experience, some of those people have drifted towards more 'prince-friendly' places (and by that I simply mean places less tolerant than the org of Prince-related discussion which is a shade short of positive) like 'princefams' or 'npgmc'.

And remember, AMP has been around a very long time, and for a long time was the best place for prince information and discussion on the net (until it was usurped by the org).

There will always be a place for newsgroups, even if it's just the refuge of the damned, a place away from all the newbies and lazy who can't be bothered to learn more than what they get with AOL.

Word of warning!

I had an obscure e-mail address that never got spam. After one post on AMP, I started getting about 10 porn spams and 10 viagra spams a day. It's calmed down since then and I now get about 2 spam a day.

Yeah, if you are using a Usenet newsgroup it's advisable to 'subscribe' using a relatively disposable and well-masked email address. Newsgroups are obviously well scoured for addresses to be spammed.
