What a sweet and naive little album. Not much of a songwriting masterwork, but a nice little album. Underrated at the time by the critics, who wrongly accused Prince of ripping off Stevie. All in all, the songs work. Nothing earth shattering, but the disk is still a great listen, and proof that at one time, Prince wanted to be loved. Not any more. lol.

Baby makes me weep.

It's a pleasant little album, sure. But nothing great. I play it maybe once a year or so. At least it's brief and easy on the ear. File next to The Carpenters.

He saved all his masterpieces 4 future albums because he knew he'd be around a while.

I play this album frequently, it is so raw and simple. Baby is just beautiful, I hope our baby has eyes just like yours, oh it makes me shiver. The opening of the album I want played at my wedding and I want those words at the end of my vows, all of this and more is for you, with love sincerity and deepest care, my life with you I share!!

I NEVER knew this album until last year. I owned it on vinyl and casette, never listened to it, never upgraded it to CD, etc...

Finally, last year, I gave it a go and FELL IN LOVE...now, I prolly listen to it every few weeks, it's so simple and fun and happy...

My Love Is Forever.. that's the cut

I got For You yesterday as a Christmas gift. I didn't expect to like it much as the Prince album isn't one of my favorites, but it's a cute, relaxing little album and it was nice to finally hear where he started from.

Even better than the music, though, is the booklet picture of the three Princes playing guitar with big, poofy haircuts. I think I'm gonna go out and buy a van so I can get that airbrushed on the side of it.
