Actually, I think the club would be pretty dumb if they wouldn't have something to pull us over into teh next year.
Then again, there have been slight hints that this year might not end on Dec.31st.

Now I don't want only a few songs,
I remember how excited I was downloading TRC...

A new album would be cool. Yet, this day and age in the
Prince machinery, it seems far more likely that we'll be
offered the "Musicology" video in streaming audio.

Then, if we join the club again, we'll be able to download
the single for disproportionate amounts of money.

A few months later we'll be able to buy it as an exclusive
single for even more money.

A few months and some throwaway crap later we'll be given
a chance to "exclusively" listen to bits of the new album
that will feature "Musicology" and probably even be called
after this -by now- 2 year old song.

In december we'll be advised to join the club again just
to make sure we'll be able to BUY the entire album on cd
from the retail section.

Meanwhile we'll get free [yes free] emails telling us about
all the projects Prince is working on and how great all the
new jams sound that WON'T be on the album. But hey, feel
FREE to access the RETAIL EXPERIENCE and pick up a baby doll
T for $50,-

The saddest thing is, I probably will join again, on the
0,0001% likelyhood that the fucker WILL release a major
and ultracool album the first year I don't join.

Presuming he wants our money next year, let's hope they at least tell us something, anything about NPGMC year 4.

OK, the club sucks. Period.
But this year we got the Vegas dvd and N.E.W.S., not too bad.


Sometimes I wish I was a Björk fan (oh, actually I am).
The amount of stuff she's released only this past year!... And she said herself she did it to keep the fans happy, referring to the live box and the dvd's that came out this year).

Why surrender my expectations?

Expectation is what being a Prince fan is all about.

As important as Prince's actual music is, the idea of Prince's potential is equally alluring.

That's why we're all hooked. We know what Prince is capable of, though there's something about the situation that's like a musical heaven, where Prince gives us all exactly the stuff that we yearn for, that's always just out of reach.

I agree with you completely, fauxnewbie...but don't you get tired of being disappointed constantly? For whatever reason he seems incapable of doing anymore what we all know he should be able to do, and CAN do...but - well, I don't know. Life takes it's toll on people, I guess. I hope he's happier now, but hell -- I know shit's bad when I'm fondly fucking remembering Rave, you know what I mean?

Yes and no. I'm of the ilk that like TRC and NEWS so I don't look back fondly to the days of Rave. However, I do feel a little tired sometimes wishing for new releases or the chance to hear the semi-mythical vault material. It's sad really isn't it? Wishing for an album of old unreleased tracks that seems as though it has been made solely for your taste in Prince music. It's like the holy grail. I think there are a few Prince fans who have this feeling though.

According to prince himself, or the NPGMC it is better to surrender your expectations when it comes to the club and the possibility of actually getting some new music. I think they advised their customers to do that in order to not feel ripped off and such.
