Purple Rain the movie gives me chills... I just bought the UK DVD release of Purple Rain, so I could finally watch the wide-screen version on my computer. I haven't watched it in years and probably haven't seen it in letterbox format in 20 years. And plus, computers show DVDs clearer than most TVs.
Anyway, I started playing it and it gave me chills...damn, it's striking how powerful Prince's music and persona was back then. He was just magically cool back then in an otherworldly way. I can't wait to watch the rest of the movie. I know that WB is supposed to release a two DVD set of it next year, so maybe i'll just copy this UK release and sell it on ebay. I can't watch it on my TV anyway, because it is PAL format. But it is great watching it on the computer. | |

Yeah I agree, he just oozes this mysterious, cool aura in that movie. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

I think the part where Prince's father says "Never get married" and then you hear those drums, going into Computer Blue is one of the most powerful parts of the movie. That kicks my butt everytime! | |

My favourite part is still when he's playing The Beautiful Ones in front of Apollonia.
Ah I just love that part, the setting adds so much to an already amazing song. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

I like the father part 2 because prince is all grinning and than his dad is like-never get married-the smile has turned into a what the heck stare...in this movie Apollonia looks like a cat 2 me.  And like His promise is true

My fav part is any part with Morris in it. He stole that
movie. I bought the dvd a few days ago and, just like you, saw it again for the first time in ages. I laughed my ass off at all the Morris stuff and finally recognised some of the stuff that you guys talk about on the org. Like "Gino"  and true love lives on lollipops and crisps | |
