Am I wrong in thinking that "I Wanna Be Your Lover" and "Kiss" were the only falsetto sung songs to hit big outside of the r+b market?

Well, The Most Beautiful Girl In The World was a hit too,
number one on several continents.

But from what leaked out in later years, Prince bought a
lot of those singles himself didn't he?

So it begs the question if it would have been as huge a
hit if Prince hadn't bought half the singles himself.

Oh true. I forgot about that one.

And wait, how do you know Prince bought his own singles?

It was reported on the org smile So take it with a grain of
salt.

Although, most people on that thread agreed at the time
and even said something about Prince handing out those
singles at Paisley parties and concerts up to 1998 lol

I'm not sure if it's true though. Perhaps that's a topic
worthy of it's own thread.

Prince is a freak and I mean that in the most positive possible way. Their will never be one so unique in so many ways. I'm sure there will be very talented people to come along but not with all those ingredients. If you take the whole package, it's like he was designed to be the artist that he was and fit his times better than anyone else. His talent, his discipline, his artistry is all together much more than we've seen before or since. He was not the best ever at any one thing, he just did everything great. To me musicianship, ability is only one piece of the equation. There is a major difference between a shakespeare and a spielberg. The human race does not get many shakespeares, einsteins or Prince's. I don't think his real gifts will be realized until we're all dead and gone. People will look back on much of the stuff we call garbage and call it his most brilliant work and place him in a category above pop musicians.

Where Rave was just an album, a collection of songs which could very well be changed, TRC is a statement. I bet this album was as important for Prince as Lovesexy was.

thumbs up!

Amen to that. TRC just blew me away - after Rave I was expecting another commerical effort, and was very pleased with what we got instead!
U been bamboozled, hoodwinked, took.
