Prince's best album since Lovesexy??? I think most of us agree that Lovesexy was the last album from the "Golden Age of Prince". Things changed with Batman somehow...maybe everyone doesn't feel this way, but I feel safe saying that most do.
Anyway, what is your favorite album since Lovesexy??? I am going with Come... mainly because the test pressing version is so strong. .but it's basically the same as the released version, so I'm not cheating too much. And the Black Album isn't eligible of course because it was really done before Lovesexy and "released" by bootleggers to all the fans at the time who bothered to track it down. So what do you think? What is Prince's best album since Lovesexy?

In my opinion, LoveSexy has pretty much been the last Prince album. For You to LoveSexy is the core album collection, and a hell of a ride by any pop artist's standard. That's not to say there haven't been some good tracks here and there since, but in terms of albums - LoveSexy was the last cohesive statement. I hope its not The last...

I'm in complete agreement, although I still think the albums upto TGE are very good, just not as great as those first block of albums (inc. TBA and all related artist stuff). There are plenty here who don't agree though, which is fine, we all different tastes. In answer to the question, I think the best album since Lovesexy is The Rainbow Children, it has taken over from The Gold Experience in my opinion. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

What is Prince's best album since Lovesexy? I totally, totally, agree with you. LOVESEXY is the quintessential Prince signature LP (CD) that a basically encompassed what he was all about. I love the CD cover, which I think is totally GLAM SLAM. I think BATMAN was a good one, along with Diamond and Pearl. There were some tracks on those two CD's that were great, like 'Batdance', 'Electric Chair', 'Scandalous', "Arms of Orion", "Insatiable", "Get Off", & "Money Don't Matter". Those were great singles, but as albums as a whole, LOVESEXY was the last one. I can listen to all the tracks over and over again, with the exception of "Dance On". Long Live Classic Prince! That is unless you count the Black Album as a 1988 release or a 1993 release. All the gals say hoe if your man's giving up the gold. All the fellas say ruff if you're only giving up the bone.

I think that in terms of 'old' vs 'new' Prince, I tend to consider Batman and Graffiti Bridge with the 'older' period also.
It's D&P that marked a new era imho. (in terms of throwing out the drum computers, launching the NPG ('old fashioned music'), entering the 90's, etc Batman still had the LoveSexy vibe to it (Electric Chair, Vicky Waiting, Scandalous) and Graffiti Bridge was marked by the presence of The Time and 'old' songs like We Can Funk and Tick Tick Bang. But, to answer your question; I'll have to go with TRC. 555-4444 you're on coffee talk.

So far it seems that The Gold Experience and The Rainbow Children are getting most all the votes. 8 for TRC and 5 for Gold. I don't especially care for either of these albums, but I guess Prince knew what he was doing, because a lot of people sure like them.
