Forever In My Life TreadBare's post on 'Still Would Stand All Time' got me thinking about 'Forever in my Life' off Small Club.
I always hear people talk about the other great tracks off Small Club, but 'Forever in my Life' is nearly always ignored. I never really got into this track when i listend to 'Sign o' the Times', but it all makes sense during this performance. First off, i should say that the track has to be played loud. Real loud to have the desired effect. So put it on loud. Now I don't care who you are, this tune will have you singing aloud and moving your ass all over the place. Doesn't matter the mood or time.. whenever i hear it i get in the best mood and i wanna go out and party. A real great track to play when your having a shower before a big night out. "You can make it right, you can make it right, middle of the day, middle of the night!" "London, i've adopted a name that has no pronounciation.... is that cool with you?"
"YEAH!!!" "Yeah, well then fuck those other fools!"

Sly, I'm tryin' my best to hang with P's rhythm guitar playing right now, but I just can't seem to get his funky vibe. :woodshed:

The SOT version passed me by at first but the SOT movie version just blows me away... the way it breaks down, the screaming into the mic, the band marching... it's incredible. The Small Club version rocks too... it was the first song on that boot that i couldn't take off repeat!

I nearly always skip 'Forver in my Life' on the SOTT movie, probably because it didn't grab me on the album version. I'm going to have to get it out and have another look. This could easily become one of my favourite tracks. Another reason why we need SOTT movie on DVD. Damn, give me that over the 'Purple Rain' dvd any day! Or, maybe a bit easier to find, on '4 Those of you on Valium', which is the version I prefer of this great live version. I absolutely love the rhythm guitar part. Prince apparently liked it also, since he revived it for some European D&P shows, where it was one of the highlights of the whole tour IMHO. Eelco

I also think the Valium version is better, (but then they are both great.) Just so raw and joyous. If you watch the DVD, you can see that one of his strings is broken - amazing. Hearing this version was the first time I actually really enjoyed the song - sounds like a great gospel song. All orgnotes and emails requesting trades or how to acquire bootleggage will be ignored. - The ThreadKiller -
