I finaly got my mits on Lovesexy 2 on video. I really like it BUT...

I remember when I was a young slip of a lad, staying up late to watch a 'Lovesexy' concert live on English television. I thought this would be it, but one of my abiding memories of the concert is:-

Prince & Cat climbing into the onstage car together. The car bounces for a few moments and then Cat emerges carrying baby dolls under each arm.

Does anybody else remember this or has age, alcohol and other indulgences rotted my brain?

No! Channel 4 played it twice, first an edit (ie without Housequake), then if full a few months later. I have both originals on video. Prince NEVER got in the car with Cat. They were always on the roof for Alphabet St.

This is the one missing piece from my holy grail of Prince music...

there are two of these. each is an hour long. one of them starts with erotic city where prince shoots out from under the stage and then crawl around sexually with cat and sheila. its been a while since i have watched these (i have them on video cassette and i don't use the vcr much in this digital age - although i use the record player alot) so i can't remember exactly how it goes, but yeah one of them starts like you describe and the other one starts differently with him driving a t bird or something like that.

I recall it very well. I went 2 both shows here in Oakland...4 me it was a mind blowing experience one that amazed entertained & was spiritual, the birth child of Prince.

It was a musical spectacle 4 me, that please beyond anything I could have dreamed up. Still one of my favorite concerts 4 me. The first show being longer with the piano played the night one...

I recall many details about it still seeing I'm not that old yet...matter a fact my age is what got me tossed out when discovered at the aftershow...

But at the end of the day his perfect quick dancing had me lookin at the brothas feet 2 see how the hell he moved like that. 2 the Ripping gutiar solo's... the stand out being the one that capped off Anna Stesia, was truly something 2 behold & best version yet...

Telling Oakland: "y'all need 2 stop kicking each ohters ass" 2 shooting the basketball making all the shots he put up...it was just a whole lotta fun as he was in fine form as was the band~

2 this day out of all the shows and concerts I've been 2...thats still the first and last time seeing a concert "in the round". One things 4 sure...he made the very best of that!

Damn, I can never find that video, where can I buy it from?

With that said, Its leaving out much but the energy I felt that first nite was so mighty I was left in a drained amazement...just buzzing trying 2 figure out and think about what I just witnessed...The man had rose up much higher then the one who dazzled on the 1999 tour had became sharper then his week long concert stays during the Purple Rain era...He was more complete as a all around performing force then the one who got rave reviews 4 Sign O' The Times...He had a brand new drug 4 us 2 use in the best way... He offered up a huge exciting dose of Lovesexy~

In 88 he did get screwed I thought on the best concert tour of the year...It was the first time I had ever seen the "World Music Awards" and after seeing the Lovesexy tour that year...I didn't see any other artist who was giving U a 1000% like that, in the most complete wayz...sure I would have loved getting full versions of some of them songs...But I truly can't think of any other artist then or now who could have pulled off such excellence. His creative vision with this whole concept was genius!

That 2 million dollar stage looked a trip...I don't know about U, but I recall hanging out there when everyone was leaving 2 see a closer look of that one of akind stage~

His concerts stay in this brothas fibers...can't wait 4 the next~


PS.Lovesexy video concerts huh?? well if your in the Bay Area I might B able 2 help U.
