When I think I have a valuable collectible molding away in my closet, I check out eBay and see how much similar items are going for - that gives me an idea of how much people are actually paying for things. And if the item in question isn't listed at all, it leads me to believe that the item is either a) valuable enough that people rarely want to part with it, or b) not worth enough to bother selling it. In which case, I either decide to stash it back in the closet or take a chance and see what it sells for, depending on how attached I'm feeling I spose...
