I was listening to the sign of the times CD last night and I could'nt help but notice that the audio is'nt great. All other records on CD sound great. Strangley Sign is'nt, even the my original vinyl record sounds much better?

I understand that the original masters were recorded on analog, still it seems sub standard.

Does any body have this problem, do you agree?

I think PR sounds kinda crappy, and I think ATWIAD sounds kinda chinsy too. Sound-wise, that is. Fortunately I'm not a stereophile, but I notice these things.

try re-recording it if u are able. i did my own "new master" copy by recording it through my external CD player onto a CD-R at a much higher recording level. sounds much better. plus, i fit the whole thing on a single CD! it took some fine tuning and shaving the few longer gaps between songs, but the whole thing clocks in at 79:56.
yes, sign is a brilliant record, but the sound q. is kinda dismal.

Every Prince CD from 'For You' to 'Lovesexy' really needs to be remastered,especially 'Controversy' and 'SOTT'.When I wanna hear those particular albums,I pull out my old vinyl records.It sounds so much better.

Although I do agree with DavidEye - ALL of the older stuff could do with remastering.

ever since i replaced my SOT vinyl with the cd ive noticed the shoddy sound quality. its too quiet and the bass and treble are really lacking. i wonder if they ever will remaster the old analogue albums? particularly purple rain for next years anniversary. that would be nice

I'm sitting here listening to "Dream Factory Remastered", and it's actually embarrassing how much better the sound is on this than on SOTT.

put them on ur hardrive then run them through a compressor or eq, software, the best is the waves plug in platinum, for sonic foundry, the c4 compressor is the best, i remaster all songs in there that need it
