5 most underrated Prince albums...
***'Prince'(1979)---contains some of his most soulful and heartfelt ballads ever.The songs "With You","Still Waiting" and "It's Gonna Be Lonely" are incredible. ***'Batman'(1989)---many people (fans and critics) dismiss this album as a commercial soundtrack for a wildly popular movie.But there are some strong,inspired tunes here.The pulsing beat of "The Future",the intoxicating funk of "Electric Chair",and the superb hit single "Batdance" make this album a winner. ***'Diamonds and Pearls'(1991)---yes,it's commercial and it's not one of Prince's more experimental projects.But what's wrong with catchy,well-produced pop songs? Pop songcraft is one of his many talents too,you know."Cream" is alot of fun,and the charming "Strollin" is another highlight.He doesn't ignore the funk either..."Gett Off" boasts a bass-heavy groove,wicked lyrics and a slight hip-hop feel.And isn't "Insatiable" his best bedroom slowjam of all-time? ***'Love Symbol'(1992)---his best 90s album,imo.I've already raved about this CD many,many times before so y'all already know how I feel about it...lol ***'The Truth'(1997)---this CD is worth it for the song "Dionne". Newpower Soul - Funky as fuck. Its a party album like the Black album. Not everything has to be deep and meaningful.
Around The World In A Day - Radical departure after the New Wave/Funk of the previous 5 years. Batman - If all these songs were non-released and leaked from the vault, fans would talk about this album in the same way they talk about the Camille album. Emancipation - So what if its too long? Nobody's forcing you to listen to it all at once! Crystal Ball - As a collection of unreleased material, its better than "The Vault", | |
