Prince has been in doubt about what he was or supposed to be for ages.
But I think ever since he started incorporating rap in his music he was trying to establish contact with the so-called black music market. I loved him best when he did not define everything. But I do not mind him liking what he is. Black or white, straight or gay. As long as he keeps playing music. Whatever music. | |

yes. and it will B seen even more in his next music video release. kinda interesting coming from a guy that wanted 'crossover' so bad he could taste it. but it's his life N his decision. i just hope he keeps making GREAT music and releases more of it.

What do you mean by 'acting more black'? are you talking about in concert? in interviews? in his lyrics? Even in the many books that have been written about him, there are tons of interviews expressing how he spent a great deal of his time on the road with the African American members of the Revolution and The Time as opposed to the white members. Many of his stage antics have always been things you can trace back to James Brown, Sly, Little Richard, etc. The way I see it, race has never actually been majorly vocal about race unless it is directed at everyone, but I don't see that as a bad thing. It does not mean he was not aware of certain issues amongst the black community. Nor do I believe it made him less proud. I am not tryin to sweat you, I'm just curious as to what your take on this really is. | |
