This song is so special to me. Like I've said before, I think I've been a Prince fan since birth. I was born on the release date of For You, and have loved his music since I can remember. When Raspberry Beret was released as a single I was seven years old and it was my favoritest song in the world. Of course I had no idea it was about a kid losing his virginity in a barn. All I knew was that I loved it with a passion. Back then there was a roller skating rink in Boston called Spinoff's, and they had an indoor waterfall and a huge video screen where they'd play music videos. (R.I.P. Spinoff's ) Anyway, I had my eighth birthday party there and they played the Raspberry Beret video twice on that huge screen! I nearly died of happiness.

Thanks for reminding me of a happy childhood moment!

I 'Raspberry Beret' its pure pop perfection. The beautiful strings, the catchy chorus, its full of colour and delight. I particularly love the 12" with the different percussion instruments being brought in.

I dig the strings, especially on the bridge, but it's not a song I seek out to play much.

Perfect storytelling in a song, which is a dying art (sadly with Prince too ).Definately one of my Faves.

I used to love it, and thought it was a great follow-up to the many Purple Rain singles. It even came with "She's Always in my Hair" on the b-side.

After hearing it so many times I'm tired of it, and I'm surprised he seems to always play it live all the time, there's just so many other songs he could play, but I guess it's still a crowd pleaser. I think in another couple of years I'll appreciate it again, but now it's like hearing a great Beatles song.. I know it's great but I'm numb to feeling anything from it because I've literally heard it thousands of times...now Pop Life I'm still not sick of because it was hardly ever played...

A slice of perfect pop , bloody wonderful ,its also my sisters favourite Prince song (shes not a huge fan but she likes some of his stuff,shes had to,I play it so much lol)
