Song of the Day: "The Screams of Passion" And don't move me to Associated Artists. Prince wrote it, and I'll pull out the rehearsal with him on vocals if I have to.
Now let's get on with the get-on... I love this fucking song! It has most definitely stood the test of time as a kick-ass jam. Beautiful lyrics, sexy vibe and vocals...priceless. I love the way the next line begins with the last words of the previous line in the first verse. The rhythm of it is perfect. And that line "A robin sings a masterpiece that lives and dies unheard for screams of passion" is a perfect example of why we love Prince the Songwriter. Unfuckwithable. There's a gentle autumn breeze That blows whenever we be lyin' Lyin' in my bed The moon appears and disappears, U look at me My clothes I quickly I quickly shed The curtains dance a minuet, autumn plays the music, baby Come on, hold my hand Leaves are fallin', velvet splash Only U and I can under Only U can understand The sunlight draws a picture through the silky lacet that hangs above your Hangs above your door A picture that is waving, that it seems 2 be with every thrust U Make me beg 4 more Oh, a robin sings a masterpiece That lives and dies unheard 4 screams of passion A sound produced by 2 in love Curtains dance and autumn plays on (Oh, 2 in love, on and on) The screams of passion All I hear in my head echoing like a volcano, baby The screams of passion Back and forth the raging seas of lust, I want U madly Can't U tell, can't U tell, can't U tell, can't U tell? Oww! Take me in your arms, oh baby The crime is done, I'd rather die here in your Screams of passion Whoa, hold me now, baby Tell me that U love me Is it Sunday or is it passion? Love, love (The screams of passion) The screams of passion, yeah yeah, love The screams of, the screams of, the screams of passion, passion Hand me that love Yeah! (Shhh... not so loud baby) Yeah! (Shhh, shhh) The screams of passion {x2} Oh, oh, oh, the screams of passion Ooh, the screams of, the screams of, the screams of passion The screams of passion Back and forth the raging seas of lust Raging, raging (The screams of passion) U know I want U madly baby Why can't U tell? Oww Is.. is it Sunday? (Ooh love, ooh love) I thought I heard a church bell (Or was it passion, passion?) Yeah yeah (Oooh) Passion The screams of passion What did U say baby? Excuse me, but ... Is that your passion? Do U want my passion? Uh, do U want my passion? If U want my love, if U want my body baby Let me hear ya, let me hear ya, let, uh, let me hear ya scream! I want some passion Ooooh U know what I'm talkin' about baby? Ooooh I want some passion U got that baby? I want some passion Passion, mmm [This message was edited Thu Dec 11 9:14:39 PST 2003 by FunkMistress] The Normal Whores Club

Both studio and rehearsal versions deserve a mention given they are chalk and cheese. Did I send you the rehearsal version? I can't remember. . "You don't frighten us, English pig dogs. Go and boil your bottoms, sons of a silly person."

I think this line is sung by Prince. *********************************************************************************************

Love that video. Ain't nothing like a pajama party with Susannah Melvoin There was an interview in the Long Beach Press Telegram with Susannah in regards to the Family Jamm this weekend. She mentioned that this would be the second gig The Family performs. She seems very excited about performing this weekend. I just can't believe I'm actually going to hear "The Screams Of Passion," live this Saturday. I'm assuming they'll be doing this song as it was the only single. Wondering how they'll handle the strings... One thing that cracks me up about this song is this part:
Yeah! (Shhh... not so loud baby) Yeah! (Shhh, shhh) It's clearly Prince singing "yeah" and St. Paul is calling him baby 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

i love the rehearsal version where prince is running the whole show - its great. there is one part where he says "put the step on it" and then tells the keyboardist, "the lighter you touch it, the more it does, see?" its cool you can hear him showing the musicians how to play their instruments. you hear about prince showing these brilliant musicians how to play their instruments - i always figured that was hard core prince fans exagerating his talents, but when i heard this rehearsal i realized that it was true.
