Is There An Online Reference... I was wondering if there is something on the net which tells you whether released songs are either edits, full-length versions, remixes or alternate versions.
I mean on the Around The World In A Day album, "America" is an edit with the full-length version appearing on the 12". The so-called "Extended Remix" of "I Would Die 4 U" is an alternate version. The "Extended Remix" of Shockadelica is actually the full-length version - that sort of thing... Does anybody know if info like this, is online?

I'm unaware of a comprehensive online listing that gives this detail. The best (offline) source I'm aware of is currently Turn It Up 2.0. ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift. |

This is obviously incomplete, but maybe of some help: it was compiled by Jon Brode, who was in on the early days of the Prince Mailing List (see FAQ for PPML on this site):

Also, some 12" (eg Let's Work) had the extended parts recorded at a completely different time than the original track. Not quite a remix, then, and not quite a 'full-length' version.
