Prince and his Bass

to be honest, i can never hear enuff bass playing from Prince whether it is him playing or somebody else.
there's some brilliant moments on The Black Album and a few others but it's always turned down too low.
even on TRC where you have to listen closely, there are some great bass parts but it's still too low.
c'mon Prince!! get with it.

I love Prince's bass playing!

Which tracks from TRC does Prince play bass on? Can we tell when it's Prince or when it's Rhonda?

check out the June 8 and 9, 1994 shows at Glam Slam Miami if you want to hear some great Prince bass playing. He does extended jamming on the bass during those shows...on the one eyed bass, no less.

Prince plays bass on all the tracks except The Work and The Last December and i think one other. Larry plays on The Work and The Last December. i can hear Larry loud and clear but P never turns himself up.

That's usually because he doubles the electric bass with synthesizer bass parts. Not all the time, but a lot.

I guess you haven't listened to N.E.W.S, the opening track shakes my bloody windows!!!
In the distance a light shines and I know it is mine. Someday I will touch it because it calls me. It says cross the line, cross the line. I know everything is not always what it seems, so I pinch myself daily just in case it's a dream

Listen to Family Name again, especially the intro sequence
has some exquisite bassplaying going on in the background,
admitting, as you said it's too low in the mix but it's 1
of the best ever.
and true love lives on lollipops and crisps
