Does anyone dislike, or just not dig this track for whatever reason?

What's not to like?

I never used tgo like The Ballad of Dorothy Parker but then one day it just clicked with me. Now I adore it.

I used to be pretty indifferent to it.Then I heard the SOTT rehearsal boot version, the one that segues into "4" and started to like it more than I had before.

I used to really, really like the Ballad of Dorothy Parker, but somehow I just got tired of it at some point. I wish I still liked it, but it just doesn't do it for me any longer. I haven't listened to the album version in quite awhile, but it bores me when he plays it live.

Alot of people become REALLY turned on to Princes music because of this song. It's one of those songs that surprises people, like they didn't expect it. I initially thought it was strange and gimmicky when I first heard it, now I think it's genius .

The song is absolute genius.
It's definately in my 'doesn't work well live' list though.

One of the best songs on the album and one of the best Prince wrote.

Hard pressed to find a prince fan that doesn't like this one or adore...I tell you one that I do hate...KISS UHHH! Overplayed and covered one too many times, didn't Wayne Newton have this in his Vegas set once?

This is really weird for me, but I actually prefer the ONAL It Ain't Over version.

It goes well with a full band, but both versions are cool.

Pretty catchy for a non-repeating melody!

That track took some time to start a like relationship.. it grew on me and now I love it.. very different/unique

It's a bit of a grower, it took me a while to fully appreciate how great a song it was.
Like other people said, one day it just 'clicked'.

COME ON!!! DParker is a work of complete genius... and why does anyone need to have the lyrics explained! It's a love song about a girl named Dorothy Parker. It is quirky, jazzy, wicked vocal, amazing lyrics, and live, this tune is utterly sublime. Just listen to how he has developed the song over th eyears to the version on It Ain't Over - that is stunning.

My one wish, is to hear a studio re-master extended version - oh heaven!

I definitely feel indifferent about this song...I don't DISlike it but I sure as hell don't like it much either. Nothing special for me, I normally just skip it.
