This day in 1995, Prince performed at the VH1 Fashion Awards, lip-syching (ugh!) to the House Mix of P. Control. A cassette single, containing P. Control (House Mix) and P. Control (Club Mix) was handed out to the audience.

Remember how many cassettes used to be handed out? I was given The Sampler Experience cassette in England in March. Then The Versace Experience (Prelude 2 Gold) was given out in July. Then this P. Control cassette. Then less than a week later, the Slave / New World cassette was given out at PP.

Those were the days. So exciting to be a Prince fan because it was so unpredictable.

Not that we don't get freebies now. The Days Of Wild CD single at the Celebration, and the Xpectation and C-NOTE downloads are similar. I'm just sayin'.

Sometimes, when you put the 'business' aside, it's really fun being a Prince fan.

You got free cassettes back in '95!?
