converting prince haters to prince lovers...any stories? i was wondering if anyone had good stories of partners or friends you have had that hated prince at first but once they actually listened to his music, they became fans like yourself.
... ... ... i have had lots of friends that now like prince but when i first knew them, they either hated him or were just into one or two of his songs. ... ... my wife only liked him with "when doves cry" but years of her listening to him have made her a big fan(she loves his ballads).

Well, see, one time I loaned a friend my NPGMC password so they could have a look around, and then...oh, wait...that didn't work out so well...never mind...

A lot. I am a Prince-religion preacher. A lot of my friends hated Prince till I recorded a cassette with non-singles song like Sometimes it snows or Venus de Milo if we speak about ballads, and What's my name, The Ride and things like that for those who love strong music.
Result: everyone recognize Prince is marvellous, and they had a wrong impression about him.

Give m the best sex they ever had and say "see, that's
what I learned from listening to Prince". They'll want to suck in the entire backcatalogue before the week is through. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Well, I played 3 of my friends most of the One Night Alone LIVE set and the Alladin DVD and they became fans. at least one of them did "The voter is less important than the man who provides money to the candidate," - Former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens

I'm always trying to convert people, so I've got a couple of stories. It's converting the 'haters' rather than the 'couldn't care less' people that is more satisfying.
CONVERSION 1 My ex-girlfriend could never stand Prince and the more I played, the less she liked. She would argue that there was no reason for me to like him. She would complain every time I put one of his songs on. And she had stated that she thought I was mad/crazy/plain bonkers etc to go to Paisley Park for the celebrations. Then I dragged her along to the Saturday night ONA show at Hammersmith last year. By the 2nd song she was enjoying herself, by the 3rd she was telling me 'he really knows how to treat a woman', by the 5th she was seeking assurances that we would get into the afterparty. At the aftershow I found us a fairly decent position stage left near the front. She told me, 'I'm not having this' and pushed us to near front centre. Eventually, she left me behind and got right to the front. After the show, and this is the clincher, she promised that I would never go to Paisley Park without her. 180 degree turn. She still states that she's no big fan of his albums, but if he comes to town, she'll be first in the queue for tickets!
